You sound like someone who just found out he's going to be a father. But you are already so worried about something that hasn't happened yet that you are making yourself miserable.
Having a child is a blessing. When I was pg (after trying for 15 years) people would ask me what I wanted & I just told them a baby. A healthy baby of course, but I would elaborate and say that if my baby were born with a disease or illness then it would still be MINE to love, enjoy, and take care of. Because of my age they kept trying to force me to have tests done before my son was born to see if there was anything wrong with him, like if there was, what was I going to do about it???? It didn't matter because I was going to love him just the same.
You get what you're suppose to get when you have a baby. And what you will get is a lot of love, joy, happiness, sleepless nights, first words, first steps.... You get the idea.
Don't be afraid. If it's meant for you to have children you will.

I think everyone worries about those types of things. I know I did while I was pregnant. Sometimes, things can go wrong and sometimes they do. All we can do is hope that our babies will be alright. With proper care, nutrition, and taking care of yourself while pregnant can help lower the risks, it doesn't eliminate them. You can't spend all of your time worrying and wondering what "can " go wrong..........You'll never live and enjoy life if you do! Just remember, that God will not put upon you, anymore than you can bear. If for some reason you do end up with a handicapped child, it was only because you were so special, that God picked you, to raise his very special gift to you!!

This is a common fear in my opinion. Anything can go wrong at anytime. I know that is very blunt but it is the truth. I know I always worried with my pregnancies because my job is working with mentally handicapped individuals. In my mind, I figured I would have a child with a handicap because God knew I could handle it and that I would love that child in every way. Turns out, I have 4 beautiful, absolutely healthy children and I am still at my job showing love to individuals who aren't like anyone else.

My first thought when reading your "question" is
"To think is to create"
if you put that much energy into your fears you may make them come true.
My second thought is "So what?" Have you ever know someone with down syndrom? They are really happy, at least the ones I know. It could be something you are destined to have in your life to help you learn how to love unconditionally or something....

Anyways, Yeah, I think about things like that sometimes, but not for very long.

I have 2 kids and I was worried about something as innocent as using hairspray while pregnant might do something to my child. There was even a girl who worked with me who thought the same thing when she was pregnant and I could confidently tell her it has no affect on the baby as my son turned out perfect. It is just human nature to wonder "what if" but you know what, you just can't live your life like thinking like that.

You could be the healthiest person in the world, and ANYTHING can still go wrong.

Myself, I am PETRIFIED of having children. The ruining of my body is a big threat, also there is far too much mental disturbances in my family and the chances for this to be passed onto any offspring is very likely.

There are enough people in this world. Have you thought about adopting?

God wont give you anymore then what he knows you can handle.Being smoke free, drug free and std is a great start for being good parents but does not mean you wont have a baby with birth defects.

If your scared about having kids... just think about how scared a girl would be about having kids.
They have to carry the kid for a year & give birth to it
