I know this teenages (18) who lives in korea and i have been talking to him for a while..He mentioned to me that he has a illness ( or an illness that effects him mentally). He said that the illness causes him to pay attantion to things we usually wouldn’t pay any attantion too...for example when we breathe...we breathe without thinking about it...but he cant do that...he said that he needs to recognize when to take a breathe and when to release it...he said he is having a problem with his every action in a mental way. He also said that the condition effects his whole nervous system.
He has seen many doctors in Korea and none seem to know what the problem is exactly.
If anyone can help this would be greatly appreciatd as i want to help him very much...if you have any ideas or any way to help please give me some information or tell me what you know or think the problem may be...
Thankyou very much

What i meant about breathing was...that when he breahtes he unintentionally focuses on it....so normally we wouldnt notice that we are breatheing..or even think about it...but he seems to need to pay attention to everything thats happening to his body...and he also mentioned that he is loosing control of his normal body funtions...eg..move arm..move leg and so on

its a problem with zanshin and mushin. what he needs to do is train in martial arts. there he will gain an understanding of those. zanshin= total awareness. mushin=no awareness. in martial arts, students are taught techniques and how to be totally aware of everything about themselves and their technique. then they are taught to push their movements into mushin so that they can do them without thinking. your friend needs to learn to do this with his breathing

there is alot of good info here
http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/body_basics/brain_nervous_system.html

Basic body functions. A part of the peripheral nervous system called the autonomic nervous system is responsible for controlling many of the body processes we almost never need to think about, like breathing, digestion, sweating, and shivering. The autonomic nervous system has two parts: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous systems.

The sympathetic nervous system prepares the body for sudden stress, like if you see a robbery taking place. When something frightening happens, the sympathetic nervous system makes the heart beat faster so that it sends blood more quickly to the different body parts that might need it. It also causes the adrenal glands at the top of the kidneys to release adrenaline, a hormone that helps give extra power to the muscles for a quick getaway. This process is known as the body's "fight or flight" response.

The parasympathetic nervous system does the exact opposite: It prepares the body for rest. It also helps the digestive tract move along so our bodies can efficiently take in nutrients from the food we eat.

If what he says is true then to take of his attention from being obsessed about his breathing and related problems he must start meditating as then he will be able to calm down himself rather than think about his problems all the time
