I was raised Catholic, consider to be a Christian, but feel I don't need a Religion.

Seems we think alike about this.

I suggest you get a copy of the course in miracles. It is a sort of a road map for people like us. It shows you how to become far closer to God than any religion could ever hope to get you.

love and blessings Don

Hmmm...I have no religion in my life because all religions are lies and pure fabrications, being intellectually honest with myself is much more important to me than the need to feed the emotions of fear or hope. I would much rather live with a fear of the unknown than to compromise my own intelligence by believing in the rantings and ravings of lunatic control freaks.

If you cannot produce God him/her/itself to make an appearance to back up whatever beliefs you are shoving and pushing around then I must call you a Liar and a very dishonest person, not only with others but also with yourself.

I guess some people can live with the trade off, accepting a book as "proof" of god to ease your own fears while dealing with that little voice in the back of your head saying "you idiot, that book is proof of NOTHING"...

Not me, not ever...

I am Deist. It is very important to me. I spent the greater portion of my life searching through organized religions, when the truth was I didn't believe in organized religion. I discovered Deism when reading about Thomas Jefferson and the other founders. It fit what I had always believed in my heart, I just couldn't put a name to it. Why I had the need to put a name to it I still don't know, but there it is.

I don't go deeply into religion aspects, it's mostly a bunch of crap all rolled into one. However a lot of people are deep into the religion aspect of things. I'm not in any religion and I like to keep it that way, nothing binds me to be completely loyal to anything, leaving me free to be who I want to be without a bunch of priests telling me what to do with myself.

I don't believe that Christianity is a "religion." I believe that it is a lifestyle. Religion is man trying to reach God while Christianity is God reaching down to man.

The only scenarios where there are no athiests are:
1) Before an exam
2) In the hospital and
3) In court
During these times, pick a religion and pray.

My religion is important to me because I find it helps me to manage my life and to better myself. I also find that everything that it claims has made sense to me.

My philosophy: Theravada Buddhism

you feel you don't need a religion because god has been too good to you--if you had any religion you might consider passing it on--not everybody is as self centered as you are
