Imipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant. It won't work on your head ache as far as I have ever seen (RN 14 yrs and MD16yrs). There are better choices for antidepresants, such as Xanax and Wellbutrin. You need to make sure that your doctor is treating you for simply anxiety and not depression or another psychological issue.

If you have tried antidepressants and they haven't worked, then give the imipramine a try. I'm assuming that this is a doctor familiar with your condition, not someone new to you.

Lexapro is also an anti anxiety agent. Perhaps your doctor thinks there is an element of depression to your anxiety. You need to discuss with her There is simply to little infor mation provided to give you a more through answer, though I hope this helps some.

Good luck.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

I was on it for 10 years and I don't care what anyone says about meds, it got me going again. I couldn't even go out of the house-it gave my my life back as I knew it.
