I subsctribe to Scientific American and Scientific Mind.
Have over 100+ books on psychology, neuroscience, biology, physics, anthropology, engineering, programming, robotics, alternative energy and believe in Micro-evolution. I tisn't logical to belive in both.
I'm very into science, history, math, arts, literature.
I know 5 languiages, play 2 instruments, extensive history knowledge, read ever classic novel you can think of and I invent.
I don't believe in any gods presented by the plethora of religions
Grew up mormon but never believed it, dismissed it copmpletely.
The only thing different is that one night I was in bed, felt a sudden shock or charge and floated out of my body and enter the world of thought. Where worlds are created by pure intent.Lucid worlds.
Might seem like a typical hallucination for some? But was real and what I brought back with me is real also.
The desire to have passion in life, create my dreams...
But, I can do this awake also? I can see layers

Certain concepts of belief have actual layers that I can see as shpaes in my mind now? Very strange. Very mathematical also.
I've read 300+ books after that event and before I only read maybe 10. What's up?

If you have beliefs, you are not an atheist... only at best an agnostic.

Not sure about what organized religion you might be, but it does sound like you're very interested in meditation and learning about other states of consciousness.
As for God(s) you mentioned that you don't believe in the ones you've read of in religious texts. But if you believe in a higher power in general, maybe you're simply a theist? Just a thought. :)

there is a school of thought that was pretty dominate in the 1770's when the united states was becoming a nation in which some of the leaders of the rebellion against british, believed there was no god, but they still held out for the possibility of one. i don't remember the name, but i think maybe this is your belief...sorry, to not recall the name, maybe someone else will know...:)

Religious labels as you refer .....are a man-man tradition and has nothing whatsoever to do with being a Chrisitan...You are saved by the precious Blood of the Lamb...Jesus Christ...and The only label He provided for us was His sheep...and He is our Shepherd...He never separated us or catorgized us into neat little groups....Different religious beliefs was created by MAN because all of us have different spiritual needs...As long as you believe in your heart, accept, and confess Jesus Christ...that is all the label you need....And yes, if and when you get saved you will know...and desire above all else to keep His commandments...

Honestly this question is a little too deep for simple little minds such as mine. All I know is that religious labels aren't necessary. I don't think they should even be desired. There's a certain freedom when you believe something that is unique to you, and that makes you happiest.

Dogma, thats a movie!!!1 the dumbest thing ive read today...you speak like you actually know about something you really have no idea about...its simple...nobody knows anything for sure...they can say it all they want but it doesnt amount to a hill of beans...all BS and no proof...it seems wrong to speak so boldly about things like meeting god...if there is one...i always say, "how lucky for those people 2000 years ago that witness jesus performing miracles. they would have known something for sure."...unlike a cult obsessed zealot like you...and no..im not going to capitalize the G in god or the H in him....thats just more brainwashing BS

Religion was created by people who had one or more spiritual experiences in their attempt to explain it to people who had not had such experiences. Why can't man be technological, scientific, and also have a spiritual nature? I hope you haven't started 'explaining away' your experience to yourself yet. You might consider the Universalist Unitarian Church. They believe the human spirit is universal. That is, they do not beleive in any One True Faith and often have classes on many different religions.

You sound like an intelligent person, although you don't seem to write like one for some reason. . . how odd. Anyway, I'm going to assume you presented yourself accurately, just because it doesn't really matter whether you did or not.
The answer: The only label that matters is the one you apply to yourself, because no one else truly will understand what you believe.

Honestly, I would say there are all kinds of explanations for what happened to you but with no more evidence, it's impossible to decide. Could have been a nerve pinch, a petite mal seizure, sleep paralysis, etc...
