and lived and worked in Maryland? I am a single young guy just out of college with no dependents. What do I claim?

I will be paying student loans, and I will be contributing to a 401k through my employer. Income is closer to 35k than 40k as well. Given these factors, what can I expect my take-home to be?

On 40K a year your 2006 Federal tax liability will be about $4,451.00 for single with no dependents. However, there are other factors to consider that will either lower or raise that liability. Like are you going to be paying on a student loan, and are you going to be contributing to a retirement or 401k plan through your employer?
