I would advise you to just listen to your parents until you move out. No it is not a sin to have a tongue ring, I have one. And don't worry about having a tongue ring and going to interviews. It is not like you will be talking with you tongue hanging out. People don't really see your tongue when you talk anyway.
But like I said, it is just better you wait till you move out. I waited till I moved out just cuz I didn't wanna cause chaos.

This is a major decision in your life whether you believe it or not, and if you need your parents permission, then your not old enough. Not because your stupid or immature, but the their is a purpose for a tongue ring and it isn't fashion.
Let me also drop this on you. Everyday in hospitals, where they have the most sterilized conditions, people get infections. They don't even do piercings under that degree of cleanliness.
If your tongue gets infected, which although probably won't happen, BUT CAN HAPPEN and they may have to slice off some or disfigure you. You don't need that. Play a trick on your parents and do what they say this time. Trust me, I try not to lie or exaggerate. (It's almost Christmas time, give them a present.)

You don't mention your age, but am guessing that you still live at home, are in school and get the majority of your financial support from your parents. All I can tell you is what I have told my girls (one is now 18 and one is 12). If you want to pierce anything but your ears, you need to have the money to pay for it from a reputable place yourself, be old enough to have it done without needing a parent's signature and be willing to take the responsibility for caring for it..and paying the cost of medical treatment if it gets infected. Until then, you need to listen to your parents. If it is still a good idea when you turn 18, then you can go ahead with it.

Having a tongue ring is not a sin but it may not be a good idea either. Make sure you know all the facts before you make such a huge discision. Talk to others who have them and not just your peers because I am sure they think it is cool and would not talk bad about it.
I talked to several teens about them. They told me it hurt like ? and that it took a long time to heal. It got infected as your siliva is full of germs that envade the open wound. Others told me it is in the way and that they would not do it again if they had the choice. I asked them why they don't take it out. They said they suffered way to long to get it and it cost too much to think about taking it out.
Do you know why the tongue ring came about? For what purpose? It is just not something I wish to talk about here but is it sexual. It says alot about you it you have one and it means you are sexually active to everyone.
Now I know I will get teens saying it is just decoration for the body but I am right about the original intent of oral devices.
Think twice.

I love tounge studs. I have one myself and I am 24. I also had my eye brow peirced. I have my nose peirced, my belly button peirced, and my ears peirced several time. Just rebel I say, I got all my peircings done without parents consent. So I say go for it and get it done. It isn't about your parents but your sake. If they hate it let them know that if at any point of time you want to get rid of it you can take it out and no one would even know. It isn't as bad as getting a tattoo as I have 5 and never asked my mum or dad if I could get them. I say it is your body and it is completely up to you what you want to do with it. Provided that you didn't want your parents to pay for this younge ring I say you got the money then do it. Go today and get it done!!. I would have to say it hurts alot and there is alot of swelling afterwards, so take extream care of it and don't let it get too swollen.

Is it easier to ask for permission or forgiveness? Wouldn't you rather honor your parents by obeying them. This is such a small issue. Why make a big deal over it?

I agree with your parents, when you are 18 make your own choices, but while they are paying your way, you need to follow the rules, and before you know it you will be 18 and can do 101 things and the weight of all your decisions will be on your own shoulders and NOT your parents. Be a good kid, so your parents can be sad when you leave home instead of glad. =)

Why do you want to do it? Better wait until you are out of the house and standing on your own two feet. Until then its their way. You never know you might change your mind about it.

Of course, you can just go out and have it done without their permission. Then, of course, they can stop providing for you. I would suggest obeying your parents completely and thanking them on a regular basis for being your Mom and Dad.
