SKIPPING meals WILL eventually affect your metabolism.

Eating gives your body energy. When you don't eat, your body will think that you are starving it, therefore not using as much "energy" as it should... it will go into conservation mode. When your body becomes accustomed to "starving", it will "forget" how to use up that energy... affecting how your body metabolizes the food you consume.

As far as eating goes, the best thing to keep your metabolism up is to eat 4 small meals a day. It'll keep your body from thinking that it is starving or is being starved.
