In the condos that I live in, each one has two parking spots assigned to them. I usually use one of mine. However, the people across the street (who also have two assigned parking spots) have three cars (one of which is a junk car that doesn't work and it's parked in one of their parking spots) and therefore one car has to park behind the others. Recently, they have decided that they will start parking in my other parking spot. They haven't asked me if that's ok with me, they just started doing it. Part of me feels like I paid for those two parking spots and I should have them whether I use them on a daily basis or not because when I have had visitors over, I have had to walk across the street and get them to move their car which can be an inconvience when I don't know ahead of time that someone is coming over. However, I also feel like I should be a good neighbor and let them use it. What do you think?

It IS pretty rude for them to just up and start using it without asking your permission first...especially if they're turning it into a habit. Its not something you can (nor should) ignore.

Leaving a note on their windshield should do it. In case they're as rude as some of the folks giving you advice here on answers though, keep notes with respect to any dates that you make or attempt contact with them.

If the note doesn't do it, make a point to knock on their door and have a FRIENDLY conversation about their use of your parking space.

From there, you can consider other alternatives, but remember, you're living across from them.

If you just don't feel like dealing with them at all, get one of those orange no parking cones and block the end of your parking space. If they move that to park there, they're showing you a great lack of respect and are basically declaring war. I find this scenario pretty hard to imagine but...

Having feuds with neighbors makes everybody miserable. Keep things friendly as much and as long as possible. You don't have to be a donkey, but don't be a doormat either.

You have all the right to both of your spots. The neighbors need to move their third car somewhere else. The next time that a friend comes over and needs a spot is the time to tell your neighbors that it is your spot and they should not put their car in it on a regular basis. In return, offer it up to them if you go on vacation or out for the weekend.

They didn't even ask. You shouldn't have to be the one to go to them, but if you are feeling especially generous, you could tell them that it's your parking space and you want it available for yourself. If they give you a hard time, get away fast, you're not the one who should have to persuade someone else. You might even leave a polite note on the windshield to let the person know, so you don't have to meet in person.

Another option is to call to have the car towed every time you see it there. Or ask building management to handle it.

There are people like that and they will abuse you as long as they think they can get away with it.

Just ask 'em politely not to park in your spots, if it really matters that much. And wear a friendly smile when you ask so there's no hard feelings and you don't find your car TP'd in the morning!

I'm surprised that your Home Owners Association allows people to park junk cars in the spaces. Most places prohibit that. Check with your association, and if that's the case, anonymously report your neighbor. If that isn't possible, then definitely ask your neighbor to please respect your parking space because you use it for guests.

Look, just tell them that the other day a visitor came by past 9pm, your 2nd spot was eing occupiedby him. Since it was late you didn't want to bother them to move the car. Tell them to please do not park on the spot, as you don't want your guest inconvenience when they should not have to.

I thin kthat you should get your mom or a good friend or someone to visit you for a week or so- have them park in your 2nd lot so that maybe your nabors will get the hint- or start to park in thier spots to show them how it feels

**** em!

Have their car towed. That's bullshit. That price you're paying to live there includes your parking spots. Don't be a push-over. These people are using you and you're letting them.

Get em towed.

Go to the manager and express your concern. If there is no manager, call the police to have the junked car towed away.
