All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.

Not having much money, I was not so tempted - also, I was forewarned, so I was able to observe in a detached way the techniques with which he was dealing with me. Very clever, very effective. Even being forewarned, he was able to hit a nerve, although within seconds I was rational again.
I usually wouldn't take the time to give a negative report on a movement or sect, but they are so clever, I just feel I should share at least my experience. You have no need to believe it, but at least be aware of the possibility of a scam like this if you are approached. Then you can examine for yourself with a critical spirit. By the way, I am a Christian, but I would encourage anyone to examine the claims of Christianity with a critical (in the sense of analytical) spirit. Never take anything for granted. Truth can stand analysis.
