A child is old enough to be potty trained when she pees and knows the puddle came from her and when she's old enough to "hold it."
My daughter is 18 months old and she's just started squeezing her legs together before a pee comes, but she can't hold it more than a few seconds. She's used the potty once.
We just keep the potty around and talk about it sometimes (no pressure) and have a couple of books about the potty.
I don't expect her to be fully potty trained til 2 and 1/2.

Your daughter is NOT too young. My daughter is the same age and was just potty trained. I have a great ebook on knowing the signs of readiness and training in 3 days or less. Its a simple yet very effective method and may be just what you need. I would be happy to forward my copy to you. You can email me and request it at starsalso@yahoo.com

I agree that she is old enough to have potty trained. What I did for my children is bought a fancy potty which they like and make them sit on it every 2 or three hours.

What I used to do with my then 1 1/2 yr old daughter is, when I used to see her trying to poop, like when she would stand in the corner, I used to immediately take her to the toilet....so in no time she caught on...I had a little more trouble when she was just going to pee.
I've barely started doing this with my son who is 1 1/2 yrs old...Good luck!

If your daughter is waking 1 week every morning with dry diapers then Yes I would sy shes ready. Depending how much you want to go into detail. I would try taking ehr to toilet every 30 minutes. Then next day every hour. then day after every 90 minutes and fourth day every 2 hours. UNLESS she mentions need before hand.

Thats what we use with the autustic children I work with. and ITs the best way to do it. YOu could cram it into 1 weekend. But at 1 1/2 unless she can tell you when she pees. All should be good

well... that seems alittle old but u can start by getting 1 of those little toilets that they have for toddlers and put the kid on that everytime they say they have to go potty. and then eventually they will start to do it on their own.

Watch her for when she has to go to the bathroom.Take her to the toilet and set her down there. After she is done, give her a peice of candy and repeat until she gets the concept.

I might go with cowsfreak on this one - regular intervals on the pot, and maybe run the water in the sink while she sits there.
