it might depend on your color scheme . . . but I think a "winter wonderland" scheme would be very pretty . . you could simply do white and silver table cloths and have floating candles in the center of each table with small mirrors underneath the bowl . . . and you could decorate with snowflakes and glitter . . . it would be very pretty!!
but you want something a little more Christmas-like, you could still use the floating candles, but decorate them with holly and red ribbon (or whatever colors your wedding is) . . . the poinsettia idea was good, too! but you might want to look into getting miniature ones so the guests sitting at the table won't have to look around it to talk to each other or see what's going on!
have fun and be creative!!
and congratulations!!!

The church is often decorated with poinsettias, see if you can borrow those for center pieces. Miniature trees with mini ornaments are cute. Kenny G's Christmas Instrumental CD is gorgeous and is soft enough to talk over at the reception. You could have guests or family members to bring an ornament and decorate a tree for your new home/life together. It would make a nice presentation at the reception if it was led by the Best Man or Maid/Matron of Honor. You can rent doves and have them in a gold cage with red and green or whatever your color(s) bow and release them at the end. Buy green and red colored ice cream cones and fill a decorated container full of birdseed. The guests and wedding party can "toast" the two of you as you leave the wedding. Silk flowers and floral arrangements are a fraction the cost of real flowers and last so much longer. Disposable wedding cameras on the table for guests to take pictures of the wedding for you.
My friend's daughters wedding was entirely catered by her, and the women in the family. The dollar stores now carry a large assortment of wedding favors such as the bubbles, knapkins, trays, and decorations. If you go to a fabric warehouse or shop you can often get rolls of tulle for next to nothing. These make nice bows to show where family sits as well as a nice drape in a doorway hung with mistletoe :-) Plants can be rented, but if you have family or friends with green thumbs have them lend some. Depending on how holidayish you want your decor there is a lot out there that is available relatively less pricey than typical wedding supplies. Always check places like Costco or Sams to get your scrollware plates and cups for a great deal. Paper Table cloths and trims are cheaper there than at a regular Paper/Party store. Hope this helps some, and congratulations!

What a great season to be married. I have done weddings for all the seasons but never a Christmas one. Centerpieces small fresh wreath with ribbon woven through and pillar candle in the middle. For a little sparkle dip white or off white silk roses in Elmer's glue and then dip in silver sparkles or for really classy look there is a product in craft stores that is crushed glass tiny white sparkles they are great looking. Also there is a product that when placed on something and left to dry looks like snow. If you are getting married in 2007 then you could purchase some of the decorations after Christmas 2006 hen they are all marked down. Another idea if it is a church wedding is the front railing draped with green garland with small white Christmas lights woven around and red or white ribbon. Have fun and enjoy the planning.

You can save money on decorations by finding a church that is already decorated for Christmas. You'll have to do VERY little in the main sanctuary... and can spend your money more on the reception. Centerpieces can be candles in hurricane lamps with live Christmas tree (wreath) branches surrounding them (this smells really good too!). You can usually pick these "left-over" branches up at a Christmas tree lot really cheap because they cut them from the bottom of all their trees. You might even get them for free. Use silver confetti for that snowflake affect as well. If you do have it at a church, maybe find one with a reception or fellowship hall so you don't have to worry about transportation to the reception hall... most churches have also decorated their fellowship hall with a tree...so that is a bonus. Twinkling lights can be found fairly cheap at a dollar store or Big Lots (Pic N Save) and always help. You can also pick up tulle in a fabric store and drape it on the ceiling for that snow drift affect. Food items - if you have a 1 or 2pm wedding, you can get by with finger foods at the reception... snowball cookies come to mind, sugar cookies with powdered sugar dusted over them... or if you want a dinner reception, chicken is a safe selection or go with a buffet type dinner... maybe the church ladies can provide this for you? Good luck!

We had christmas wedding, too! Our colors were silver and navy blue. We bought the round ornaments (at walmart) in our wedding colors and put two or three of those on our table. Some of your art/craft supply stores will have sales in November on Christmas stuff so you can check those out. We also went to a fabric store and bought some blue cloth to set under the ornaments. We also sprinkled some confetti around it them too. Search the christmas decorations and you'll find some good ideas. We borrowed some big and little christmas trees to decorate in the reception area. We also put penguin figurines on some of the tables to add to the wintery theme! For decorations in the church we used poinsettas and lots of christmas lights! The good thing about getting married at christmas is that many churches are already decorated beautifully for christmas so you only have to add a few things. We also had christmas carols playing before the ceremony and during the reception. We also bought little jingle bells for the guests to ring when we left! Good Luck!

what's your scheme? first off try any dollar store in your area. they have great things to use for decorations for your center pieces. i decorated my cousin's wedding with beautiful plastic swans (irridescent color) and filled the back of the swans with these color marbles that were the same color as the color scheme of the wedding (purple & silver). going w/ Christmas what about gold& winter white colors?? silver&winter white? you could some mini wreaths (maybe if you find some white ones) as center pieces and decorate those. music-you should of course have your own song for you & your hubbie and let the other songs be good ol' fashion Christmas time songs. you could get some fake snow/snowflakes to sprinkle on tables, aisle, etc.
i think a Christmas wedding is going to beautiful. Congratulations! Good Luck!!

Have everyone get together their Christmas decorations and maybe you can come up with a theme for your center pieces. Maybe serve traditional Christmas fare for your meal. And if you opt for a DJ you could mix in some seasonal music as well

You have many options. This will be great.
White, icy colors. Silver, white (of course) and sparkles.
Red and white. Use poinsettias as your centerpieces.
What about a tree? Put a beautifully decorated Christmas tree up at your reception.
Best wishes on a great wedding.

my first wedding was on Dec. 26
I got married at a wedding chapel, we had the reception at a nice restaurant that was still totally decorated for Christmas (I did not have to pay for any decorations) they had poinsettias as centerpieces. The whole thing was lovely (I even got the invitations with the holly on them)

Lots of the see through tule (white netting stuff) with clear christmas lights throughout.
mason jars with tea lights at the bottom on top of really really white sand. to add more glitz to those you can spray a little bit of spray glitter to the jars
