Have I learned something about myself from the way I answered a question? Yes. I've learned that I really haven't a clue who I am or in what direction my life is heading. I think it has something to do with some major changes that have occurred over the last 18 months. A series of them, turning everything upside down. I think trying to find myself again is the reason I'm in this forum.

i have to confess i read my answers back to myself because i typically enjoy my writing, but i have learned a lot from the feedback my answers elicit.
i've tried to become more conscious of the fact that I'm answering a person, not just a question. i can measure the difference in a pretty objective way - i now look at the name/avatar when answering a question - i actually didn't do that for quite some time on yahoo answers. hopefully, those who read my answers will find them more respectful, even when i disagree.

I agree with you completely. Sometimes, I go through my own Q&A and can see I was in a particular mood one night, or that I have certain viewpoints that I wasn't conciously aware of at the time. It's given me food for thought and made me aware of things I'd like to improve on. In fact, when I first noticed it, I asked this same question! (I also did not get a lot of responses.)

Sort of...
I too, will read a question and then read their other questions trying to get a clearer picture of their background/situation.
I re-read my postings, not to learn about myself, but to ensure that my answer is understandable as it pertains to the question posted.

Yes, I have learned much about how things I may not meant to insult could be taken as such. I have learned to be more careful answering and to put more thought into it. I want to add that I have also learned that not all things are as I was taught or led to believe.

Yes and I sometimes go back and edit it if it is too strong. I want people to think before they ask a question whether they meant to attack or not and why it is dumb to ask it in the first place.

Yeah. It's like how in talking out a situation with someone, a whole new perspective sometimes just comes out of your mouth...I think it's different when you force those unformed thoughts and feelings and ideas out through words.

Sure, I sometimes don't realize how strong my convictions are on certain subjects.
