I do not use them myself, however, most people that I have encountered that use them are "self medicating". In other words, they use drugs to deal with some type of stress or upset in their life. It's a way of coping, I assume.

this has to be the most stupid question that has been asked in here. Have you been in this country and went house to house and taken a survey on who all takes drugs. if you did you would find out that your question is stupid. of course some americans do drugs, but so does all not some but all other countries also does drugs. amsterdam they have a park and in this park are tables and on these tables you can purchase any drug you want right there legally. china korea japan all your far eastern countries indulges in opium. mexico has the some of the best weed ever grown same way with columbia. so why dont you delete this question so everyone else doesnt tell you the same thing.

America is not the land of milk and honey. We work hard and earn what we have. What You see on television is only the 1 or 2 percent of people who for what ever reason totally had everything go right and They got it easy. That is not what most of Us have. Let Me ask You a question. Why do so many people in other Countries want to kill other people?

Um...excuse me...why are you just asking why the American people use drugs. Do you honestly believe that it's limited to just America? Or are you trying to get different perspectives from different countries-because trust me, it's happening ALL over this little planet. I tend to believe your answer lies with the former.

Alot of people use drugs all over the world. Whether it's illegal or medical purposes.

Becuse they feel pressured, no one understans them so they just want to escape for a minute live life how they think its right to live it. Also, because people make it sound like this is a perfect country, so perfect that people want ot get out of it to live like a "normal person", they want to get out of that routin.

Everyone uses them for different reasons. To escape from the emotional pain they are enduring. To feel "normal". Once they get that first buzz that makes them feel good they want to keep that feeling.
