I just got my cockatiel on Sunday at PetCo. He now has blood everywhere in the cage, millet all gone spilled all over the bottom of the cage, the ladder tilted, but he acts fine and happy and he only bit really hard once. Is he stressed? What is wrong with him? Please answer, I want a lot so I can compare them all. Also his name is Carlos and he is so sweet, 4 or 5 months old.

the blood in the cage alarms me. birds can bleed to death VERY quickly! if he has pulled a toenail or broken a blood feather, he will need to get to a vet ASAP. blood feathers are feather that have not fully grown in, and still have blood going ot them. u can tell them because they still have the feather shart ( looks like a porcupine quill). it sounds like he is stressed. moving ot a new environment can be very hard for birds. also, cockatiels are known to get night frights. they get scared during the night and thrash around the cage frantically, this can injure them. the best thing ot do is leave a small night light on in the room. and if u hear him flapping around at night, go in and turn on a light and quietly talk to him to calm him down. something u can do to help him with stress... raise his cage above eye level. this makes them feel secure. in a lfock, the higher a bird is, the more dominant he is. so this is helpful for a scared bird, but an aggressive bird may become worse if kept above ur eye level. notice if there is anything in the room or environment that he seem scared of, and remove it. sometimes bird can even become frightened of certain toys. if u have any more questions let me know! i have 9 birds at the moment, have take in rescues, and am pretty much obsessed LOL i spend WAY too much time reading about them!

humorous, perhaps he's counting to verify you have all your hands? heavily, it is purely yet another habit that maximum have not got a clue approximately. i'm not that acquainted with tiels using fact I even have purely bred large parrots. He appears like he's enjoying some, yet i assume he may be a sprint OCD. Dr. Irene Pepperberg got here across considered one of her African greys she worked with over the years had A.D.D. and replied to being hugged whilst he have been given over excited. I hate projecting human habit directly to different animals, yet who knows. You sound like an incredible proprietor, only have relaxing.

hi
the reason why your birdy is acting up is probably because his not really use to being in a cage, but maybe if you give him toy of something that might take his mind off or something that he is use to then he might settle down
plue carlos is a cute name my old birdy is called Riely

well about the blood thing cockatiels tend to pull their toe nails out so they bleed and when they get older they stop doing that
