Only around the neck area. Advantage is much better.

It all depends on the kind of flea collar you get. If you get a Hartz flea collar or other cheap brand, then they will only work for about a week, if at all. It also won't work if you don't put it on tight enough. The collar needs to be tight enough to touch their skin, but not cutting off their breathing ability. If you can get 2 fingers between the collar and skin, its tight enough.
If you want something that will work try Frontline Plus, Advantage, or Revolution. They are the oil that you place on the back of the dog's neck between the shoulder blades. Make sure you part the hair and get the oil on their skin. You only need to apply it in one spot between their shoulder blades, not all the way down their back.
Hope this is helpful!

Yes. You have to remember some things... make sure the dog is bathed, follow directions on collar box, it doesn't last forever, you have to change them frequently, or if they get wet. Did you know that wild garlic keeps fleas and ticks out of your yard, and if the dog rubs against it, they become flea resistant too? It's good to line the yard with it.

Actually flea collars aren't good for animals. They're only effective around the neck area, and don't kill anything off or prevent them for the rest of the animal. Your best bet is to use something like advantage or revolution; the results are much more desireable and they last much much longer. Definately worth the 15.00 that they cost.

flea collars only work for the area around them. The best thing I've found is Advantage.

My personal experience is no they do not work, I found the best is Front line & lots of bathing. I also had been told those collars can do some dogs & cats harm due to a allergic reaction. You are better of with an once per mth. application of Front line instead constantly buying one collor after the other. According to my vet one application of Front line can work up to 2 mths. if you bathe your dog often. Front line orderd from Canada is less expensive & I order every 6 mths., pay for 6 applictions less than for 3 mths. I would buy from the vet office.

it really depends on the age of the dog. i do not recommend hartz, ive read bad things about them. if you do get a flea collar make sure to rid your entire house of fleas too or it will be inaffective.

Seriously, I know it's a bit expensive but get advantix or advantage for dogs you only put three drops on their neck and the fleas are gone within 12 hours, if you just use it regularly they'll never even get them.

No flea collars do not work, they like other OTC flea meds can be very dangerous to your dog. They can cause neurological problems, seizures and death. Go to your vet and get safe effective flea meds.
