someone said jews and arabs are the same ethnicity. is this true

The Arabs and the Jews are both descendants or Abraham as has already been said. One clarification though. God never cursed Abraham for having a child with his wife's servant.
The Bible says :
"And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." Genesis 16:11-12
Later it says:
"And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!" Genesis 17:18
"And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation." Genesis 17:20
There was never a curse.

Jews and arabs are related yes. Abraham had two sons, Isaac by his wife Sara, and Ishmael by his wife's handservant. Isaac is the father of the Jews and Ishmael is the father of the Arabs. It was a curse placed on Abraham for having the son with his servant. God said that their descendants will hate each other until the end of time.

From my understanding Jewish people and Muslims are both direct descendants of Abraham.
