You never know who anyone else might know - you've already learned your lesson. Never say anything negative about a person until you know the person you're saying it to VERY well. And NEVER comment about a person's looks, weight, religion, politics, etc. These are VERY old rules, but they still hold true.
If you really want to reconnect with this person - just say something like "I really respect you and am very sorry I hurt your feelings." They have to take the next step - if they want to. Nothing lost-nothing gained.

What you did is not that bad. Don't worry about it. I'll bet lots of people are thinking the same thing you said...including the person you offended. The judge should have removed himself from judging to avoid just this thing. If the person who may have been offended ever says anything to you about it just say "I'm really sorry you saw what I said."

As far as the technical aspects of Facebook, you received a notification because they left a comment, but they deleted it before you could see it - which probably means, they were unsure about what they had to say, or if they wanted to say it - if they were REALLY mad, or thought it was REALLY funny, you would have heard from them. They're probably on the fence about how to react - maybe you could explain to them it was meant tongue-in-cheek. Good luck =)

Can you withdraw what was said in facebook? If so, do it and invite the person to view your edited pic. Otherwise, forgive yourself and learn from it. You sound genuinely sorry for your comment and we think you've suffered enough.

I would not give it a second thought, you have a right to your opinion. And they did not have to much to say they did not leave a comment. Good luck and God bless.

Oh my friend, do not worry about. If you offended somebody, it was not your intend. So say sorry to God. And make that the end of that. OK?
