fair point, however you make out the reason that you have to be in iraq and afghan is because these people are going to cause terror and they cant be allowed to get away with it...so your there dealing with it....thats the reason, right? so whats different with korea, surely you cant have one rule for one and justify still being in iraq

There are some Americans who are ok. They aren't all bush fanatics.
Most of us in the UK find it very disturbing that so many highly vociferous Americans think that whatever America does it right purely because America did it. It's disturbing when any nation does that kind of thing. In nazi Germany a milder form of that took place when people were fed the propaganda telling them that the German people were a superior race genetically and spiritually.
Fortunately most Americans on here love their country but not to the point where they won't question the ethics of their own country's actions. The US Senate refused Bush the right to officially issue warrants of assasination a couple of years ago.
As for anybody who believes the US is the envy of the rest of the world: 60% of your population are clinically obese, over 40% are type 2 diabetic. that's before we get on to all the other problems.
You're making a harsh judgement about millions of people who don't deserve it which is exactly what George dubya Boosh does.
You asked why Bush is careful with Korea? because if he were to invade North Korea he could say bye bye to New York, LA, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, Dallas and Las Vegas in the first hour. Didn't you ever notice how the school bullies pick on the weak kids but try to suck up to the kids who are stronger than themselves? It's simple US attacks N.Korea and N.Korea returns fire with support from China.

Well, your "just a question" is not just a question. You are slinging a lot of arrows here.
1. People who think they have "divine right" are not Americans. They are people like Mohammed Atta who for Allah flew a plane into the World Trade Center and Aldoph Hitler who tried to take over the world and kill anyone that didn't fit his image of Arien perfection and no doubt "obese and DBM Type II" would also be added to his list of defectives at a later time had he be given time, feeling ...much like you do about that matter.
.
2. The nut case midget in Korea may be of the same ilk but he has not attacked anyone...he's just looking for attention and baiting everyone in a provocative manner...much like you are now..
3, Get off your soapbox...you are an embarrassment to your country who just happen to like and need us Americans...and whom we have always and continue to have a great kinship with.
It's so easy to be an armchair critic...takes no brains and I think you have proved that point. So what have you done for your country lately, ?
4. We are the envy of the world you say? That strikes us rather strange. We are all too busy working our butts off to make a living on two incomes, paying taxes and supporting the world. You envy what we have, but not our government and it is our government we support. We don't think it is perfect and we don't always agree but we can and do change the powers that be on a regular basis without incident. We don't take up arms lightly...and we don't always agree on that either, but the majority rules here and without incident. Oh, we do a lot of yelling protesting and let the media run rampant in their business pratices. It's called free speech here, free press. But when push comes to shove....yes, we stand united. History proves it took a terroist attack to get us involved in WWII now didn't it? No we don't provoke but we will fight if we must.
Any more provocative questions???

It's a mixture of size and religion. In the kind of materialist world where 'bigger is better' then it follows that the biggest is the best. Because they have the biggest economy they believe they are the greatest nation on Earth, because they know of no other way to measure greatness other than wealth and the power to dominate others, and therefore assume the right to police the planet. The nation was also founded by religious fanatics and because they have been so successful economically they therefore believe that God must favour them. Might is right in their view. And as there isn't a bigger bully in the playground to knock them down they assume they must be right about that and everything else. They often conveniently forget the genocide perpetrated against the native Indians from whom they took their land. The Brits are little better, 200 years ago we were the greatest nation on Earth becasue we dominated 1/3 or the world's population with the British Empire. But all great empires carry within them the seeds of their own destruction, just like the Romans, so they will get their come-uppance as China and India come to the fore and everyone runs out of oil, on which America is wholly dependent and the American way of life is completely addicited. Anyone who thinks they are superior to another becasue they have a bigger car or house is doing exactly the same thing.

Three simple reasons why the yanks have remained tight-lipped over the Korean nuclear affair....
A) The US military is far to stretched in the middle east. They're far to pre-occupied bullying beleaguered 'little' countries.
B) There's no rich oil resources in Korea, or hardly on the scale of Iraq.
C) They're afraid of getting their 'butts' kicked and upsetting Korea's allies, especially the Chinese, now you don't wanna' start messin' with those crazy bastards!!!

I have some American friends who think the way you do. That put it down to the fact that they are not taught or really shown the world outside their own country. They even have a "World Series" that does not extend off the continent. In brief the common view was that they are treated like mushrooms, "Kept in the dark and fed on s**t."

The politics, religion, media and education that americans receive all serve to isolate them from the rest of the world.
That way it is much easier to manipulate them into killing the rest of us. If they are made to think they are the only ones with god on their side or the only ones with access to the truth, they will have no emotional feelings towards us and will find it easy to annihilate the rest of us and feel good whilst doing it.
One chap said to me `america is the only country in the world fighting for peace, you are either with us or against us` he really could not see the absurdity in his words or how ridiculous the statement was. I think most of them think the same way, because they are told to think that way and it is easier for them to think like that than to think for themselves.
You can tell the people that they have freedom of thought, but you can easily stop them using it by filling their heads with politics and religion.

No, I don't really go for religion, mate... I'm part Brit, anyhow... but the reason for our not reacting greatly to North Korea seems a little obvious. Would you send your troops in, on a full scale assault, against a country that threatens to blow you up with nukes at any given time?

I'm american I don't believe I have the Devine Right. What is your point? We don't act towards Korea because the UN hasn't. Why doesn't the UN place sanctions? Even when we went to war in the Middle east, we asked the UN for help then we went in.
