It actually doesn't make any difference, as in under 2 minutes after ingestion it will be the same as your body temperature

The difference is so minimal that its not worth considering.
The only reason cold water would be 'better' would be because it makes your body cold and your body has to burn a few more calories to keep you warm.
Honestly, just moving rather than being idle will make up the difference.
And to the post above...metabolism is the way you use energy...it doesnt have to be fat..it can be muscle or carbs. And it doesnt build muscle. Thats like saying electric companies contribute to the you getting fat by watching TV...yea, its part of the process but there is so much more that is involved.
Drinking water instead of eating to lose weight is unhealthy.

No the temperature should not matter much. As a matter of fact, cold would take a few more calories to warm your body back up, but not enough to really matter. Drinking water is great for a diet though. Don't worry about the temperature.
Good luck, I know how hard dieting is.

Cold water increases appetite. Cold water also burns calories but not very many. To help lose weight drink a glass of room temperature water before your meals to fill you up.

It takes one calorie to raise one cc of water one degree C.
If you drink a liter of water (1,000 cc) at zero degrees C, your body will have to raise the temperature of the water to 37.5 degrees C (average human body oral temperature).
In theory, this would burn up 37,500 calories, which is about equal to losing eleven pounds, which seems vastly out of proportion. So why not drink cold beer all day long and lose weight like crazy?
(Or are we talking Kcal, which would mean a loss of about 1.1 pounds?) Either way, it would be much easier just to limit your caloric intake to about 1800 calories a day, exercise for half an hour, brush your teeth three times a day and see your dentist twice a year.

Cold water burns calories. It takes one Calorie to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water 1 degree Celsius. So in the case of a 16-ounce glass of ice water, your body must raise the temperature of 473.18 grams of water from zero to 37 degrees C. In doing so, your body burns 17,508 calories. But that's calories with a little "c." Your body only burns 17.5 Calories, and in the grand scheme of a 2,000-Calorie diet, that 17.5 isn't very significant.

My friend swears she lost weight by drinking warm lemon water. She drinks about 24 ounces every morning. I think it does help with weight loss.
