I'm just doing a little research on abortion, and whether or not medicaid should pay for it..it would really help me out if i had some different views about this matter.

When I last checked the statistics, about one million abortions were performed annually in the United States.
That is more than the top four "leading causes of death' combined, and it means they somehow don't define abortion as a homicide, nor even as a death.! So what is it? a Non--birth?

Considering all the different available birth control methods, and also looking at how many different forms of lovemaking (sexuality) do not involve the risk of pregnancy, I think we should have far fewer abortions, only for cases of last resort.

Too many people do nothing to anticipate or avoid pregnancy, until the pregnancy is already a fait accompli, and then they cry out for relief in the form of abortion, because of their own carelessness. :-(

I tend towards the view that after that the baby becomes sentient then murdering it is not an acceptable course of action - and since science is not capable of telling us definitively when this point is I would view any abortion by surgical procedure as inherently wrong (though I would not have a problem with the morning after pill).

Having said all that, however, I am also vehemently pro-choice. It's all very well for me (married, fairly rich, no children) to sit on my moral high horse and say it's wrong but that's not going to cut any ice at all with the destitute single mum in the housing projects. Besides my moral views come from my (liberal) Christianity, and I do not expect (or demand) that others share my faith.

Medicaid is a no-brainer. Of course it should pay for abortions - the alternative is back street procedures, suicides, abandoned babies and many other terrible things.

Personally, I do not agree with abortions except in extreme circumstances (such as the mother's life being in danger). I think that it is taking a life. While the fetus may not be a "human" in the eyes of some, in my mind I equate it with this. If I were in a coma, and for some strange reason the doctors could guarantee that in nine months I would be fine, if someone took me off of life support because during those nine months I was not a functioning person, that would be wrong. (This is all hypothetical, of course.) I believe that having an abortion is immoral and unethical. Individuals should practice abstinence, birth control, give the baby up for adoption, etc. That said, I do not feel I personally should have the power to make other people behave according to my beliefs. That said, I don't want my tax dollars paying for them, either. I'd much rather my tax dollars went to help a woman with prenatal care and to help a couple adopt a baby that no one else wanted.

I am pro choice I guess. This does not mean that in every case I think a women should be allowed to have an abortion. A girl I know has had 9 abortions and is only 25, this is wrong I think abortion should not be a method of birth control the same goes for the plan B pill. Most women who have abortions are doing it for a good reason and that is fine its when these girls choice to kill a child insteads of taking a pill its stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, where to start... con: it's killing a baby, we all started from that stage of life, why should those children be treated any different. the mother can become depressed after the abortion, which may lead to suicide, or, complications, may lead to death. They have a heart beat in only a few months, and are almost fully developed by then ( sorry, I haven't got all my facts exactly memorised, it's been a while)Plus, hey, why not give them up for adoption, there are a ton of people who are unable to have children of their own! Go to www.mccl.org and click on the education link and you'll find the facts of what really happens there.

I think if you are not fit to have a child then the state should pay!
If you are of age and have a safe living environment then you cant have an abortion! You cannot kill a baby because you dont want it you must have some reason that , that child will not be safe once it comes from the womb.

i think abortion is wrong, i think that its murder, and i think that if you are going to have sex there are consenquenses for that choice. and i think they should have the baby and put the baby up for adoption . there are lots of good people out there that cant have children of thier own and would give the child a wonderful home. and i know people make mistakes but there are still recompence to pay and its not the babies fault and they shouldnt die because of it. and thats my opinion.
