I am not sure but I think he might have broken his little toe.It is swelled up on the side of it and all red.He limps but also walks on it.(he was chasing a squirre) I did wrap it up but he keeps pulling the band off.My question is.If It is broken.can the vets do anything to him to fix it or will it heal on its own.He had just done this and i will be contacting the vet in the morning..

I KNOW THIS ANSWER!!! MY GREAT DANE DID THE SAMETHING PLAYING WITH MY OTHER GREAT DANES... THE VET SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING TO DO. DONT WRAP IT AS THAT WILL HURT . AS LONG AS THE SKIN ISNOT BROKEN IT WILL HEAL ON ITS OWN. ITS BEEN 4 WEEKS SINCE "SILLYGOOSE" BROKE HER TOE AND ITS NOT BUGGIN ANY MORE.. STILL TENDER AND STILL A LITTLE PUFFY BUT MUCH LESS SWOLLEN AND MUCH LESS SORE. VET SAID IF YOU WANT YOU CAN GET AN XRAY BUT THEY WILL JUST SAY YES ITS BROKE. AND THATS ALL.

When in doubt, off to the vets. Thier toe nails are alot like out finger nails, if it bleeds try a steptic pencil or wax (just rub a candle on it dont use melted wax you'll both get burned doing that). Most of the time they heal just fine, like when you trim thier nails too far down. Upseting but not that serious.

Hi
He may well have just dislocated it.But if it is broken I would not worry too much about it if he is relatively young. They do tend to heal themselves and beyond the vet amputating it ,there is very little they could do other than bandage it up anyway. My experience with broken toes is to just leave them if they are not obviously hanging. He will be fine.
