Last winter. It definitely happens to me at least once each winter. I live in NH, too (bethanysmama)! It's always freezing here in the winter and it always snows or rains, so there's always ice. Then, of course, there's the occasional ice storm, and they can get awful. And to top it all off, I'm extremely accident-prone. I can slip and fall at any given moment, whether there's ice or not. lol

It was February of 1984 and we'd had a blizzard here in Chicago. I lived in the suburbs and decided (stupidly) to try to make the trek into downtown Chicago and open my office. I left my apartment out the back way and took two steps down steps that had been painted several months earlier with deck paint and had frozen into a sheet of ice. I skidded, slipped and fell hard on the steps. It brought tears to my eyes but I persevered and walked the 1/2 mile to the train station. I got to work and of course was the only one to show up so after an hour, decided to close the office. I got my coat & boots on and decided to make a "potty stop" first. I went to the ladies room, walked in and passed out. I awoke sometime later to the awful whiff of spirits of amonia and surrounded by Paramedics. When I fell, I'd fractured my pelvis and a small artery had been severed....a hematoma the size of a grapefruit caused my blood pressure to drop, hence the fainting spell. I declined transport to the hospital and so the EMTs put me into a taxi for the 13 mile ride home in a blinding snowstorm. When I went to the Doctor the next day, he said he'd never seen anything like it. Fortunately, I recovered and never used those steps again in the Winter.

approximately ten years in the past i develop into taking the garbage out as quickly as I fell and broke a rib. It got here approximately so speedy i do no longer even comprehend the way it got here approximately, i develop into in basic terms laying there finding up on the sky. I had on huge-unfold shoes yet i do no longer comprehend if it could have mattered. I discovered then that ice could be treacherous and unpredictable, no warning, no risk to react.

Last winter. It was really icy and I was trying to scrape my car off to go to work that day. I fell on the ice quite a few times that day and was late for work. Not a good day, but things could have been worse.

It has been over 20 years ago. I was walking into Hardee's and boom, down my butt went. I think everyone turned around about that time. I was totally embarrassed.
