Depends what you're into. If you like to hike, check out the C&O Canal towpath. If you like Labanese food, eat at Labanese Taberna. If you're into unique urban shopping experiences, go to the intersection of 13th & U Street NW. Start walking west on U Street and go into the diverse shops. I could keep going but it all really depneds what your interests/likes are.

I would say the National mall is the best place to go for tourists.
They have many museums, outdoor fun, see the memorials and landmarks. You can also see shows. Sometimes they have performances on the mall or exhibits.

its so much to see in dc. you could go to china town or you could just get a map from one of the visitors centers and pick out what you like to do and just do that.

i am not local i am from canada and my whole family from ages 60 to youngest 5 really enjoyed the arlington cemetary,, changing of the gaurds, seeing the Kennedy plots..... Have fun............

locals dont go to tourist spots correct they go to bars cafes resturants so just go to any place that looks iinviting
