the wine taken during communion is just a teaspoon full. I know Jesus drank wine probably at most of his adult meals. My church uses wine. One year a family that owned a liquor store donated wines to the church. We had a variety of tastes that year with communion. One does not get a buzz with communion so I don't know what all the fuss is about.....

That's a new one to me. I have no idea.

On a tangent, I heard about a Catholic bishop who one denied communion to a little girl who had a gluten allergy, the deadly bad kind. The problem is that church law has very specific requirements for the bread/hosts that are used for communion, and they have to have wheat. I'm a liturgist and I can understand the tradition and whatnot with a lot of liturgical laws, but that one blew me away - I was hopping mad.

Actually there are two greek word that are translated into wine in the english laguage, one meaning grape juice the other meaning fermented grapejuice (wine).
When looked at the one used in the scripture you stated it was actually Grape Juice.

I don't think Jesus will mind if we substitute one beverage for another when it comes to symbolically drinking his blood. As long as people know what they're doing and have their minds in the right place, isn't that enough?
