I don't know of other "smoke free" states, but I find I miss the aroma of cigar and cigarette smoke at some of my favorite joints especially since they are so old they can't help but have the smoke layer in the walls. I know there are a bunch of health arguments-not the question. I am talking sensory memory here. Thanks.

I live in Houston and I just heard that a law might soon go into effect banning smoking in restaurants/bars. Personally, I would totally hate that because I smoke and I totally understand what you mean about the smoke smell being nostalgic. I used to work in all kinds of bars in my early 20's and have had a lot of fun memories that only a smoke filled bar can replicate!

I know what you mean about the layer of smoke. I too miss the smell of cigar smoke and cigarette smoke in places that you could go to and smell smoke. Have you tried going to a cigarette store people can smoke in these stores. I find it strange when I go to some other state and you can smoke anywhere, it feels wrong and I can't do it.

I surely don't miss it! Remember when they had smoking sections in restraunts?? I can't imagine walking into Black Angus and having to walk through there watching people smoke while they eat... ewwww!

all in all, I think it's better without it indoors. If you really want that smoky sensation, just go out back- I'm sure you'll find the smokers there. Really, it's better this way.
