Um .. its not ur constitutional right to eat whatever you choose - what the hell is that??!!*! As for the turtle it depends on what species it is and its conservation status. Many species of turtle like the Greenback turtle are critically endangered and therefore protected bt the US Endangered Species Act and CITES (Control of Illegal Trafficking of Endangered Species) - I doubt that these turtles are threatened but if you are worried you can consult the IUCN redlist 2006 to see if the species is protected. Do u yanks have an RSPCA equivalent over there - you could always call them to consult - its like a animal welfare organisation. Nice of you to worry though - its always seems pretty sick to me but them I'm a hippie veggie conservationist - will go back to hugging trees now :)

I live in California and we have a lot of Asian store where I live, but I've never seen a store that sells turtles to eat. How do you know they're selling turtles to eat?

I suppose it is or they couldn't sell them. My grandmother made turtle soup and used the shell for the bowl when I was a small kid.Someone caught the large turtle and gave it to her. We used to eat wildlife quite a bit because my dad and brothers hunted so much back in the 50's.They still hunt but mostly go on trips to Alaska or somewhere.Best wishes!

Yes some stores sell foods that are common to their country. There is a place near San Diego, California that sells guinea pigs for food. I wouldn't eat them but to each his own.

Seafood is legal - some cultures eat food that you would find gross - but that doesn't mean it is wrong
