Being an American has nothing to do with race or religion but the fact that we all, regardless of ethnicity, religious preference, or sexual orientation, are guarenteed the right to be treated as human beings. We are all guarenteed the right to live here in this beautiful country. Not everyone is as lucky. Are you as happy as I am to be this privileged?

Being an average American means finding any way necessary to start an argument over the slightest things when we are as a world being threathened by North Korea. This country is no longer united and sadly it only looks like a horrible event will bring us back together just like Pearl Harbor and 9/11 did.

Being American to me means being a loyal thinking proud person.Proud of my country but not blind to its problems. Not taking from my country without giving back, not destroying its beauty .Not taking my freedoms and my rights lightly,to value them and to make the right choices with those rights and freedoms. To obey this country's laws,to uphold our bill of rights and our constitution. To protect my country from any invader whether domestic or foreign,to praise my country when its right and to ask questions and change things thru law the things found lacking. It is my job as an American to preserve and protect our country's way of life.Nothing will ever change that part of me.I love this nation and I feel honor to live here and I will protect my way of life, and this nation, no matter what the cost may be.

It determines your right to live in the country, be judged by the laws of the country, and be bound by the constitution.
Non-Americans have no permanent right of abode. Oh and now Bush has removed the rights under habeas corpus, it also gives you the right to be taken away in the middle of the night to an undisclosed place, not be told why, and possibly never to see the light of day again - and no-one will be able to do a thing about it.

Being American means everything to me. I don't have to sneak away to any other place. I don't have to hang my head in shame. I can be proud to be a citizen of the best country on earth. I have freedoms that some don't have. I am proud to be an American. I know we are the greatest. If we weren't, we wouldn't have people literally dying to get here.

Presidents/Congresses come and go...but our precious U.S. Constitution lives on until the last AmericanPatriot dies in vain to protect it after killing a flag burning hippie communist, socialist, liberal Islamic Fundamentalist.

Democrat means freedom. Republican means Dictatorship. Look it up in the dictionary. In other countries being American means 'hate'. Personally I think it's jealousy, but nevertheless.
