I found a painting that matches up over the mona lisa perfectly. I can't display it here obviously but I have it on my site itsjustlife.com

You can see my theory there, but what i'm asking is what could be alternate explanations? If my theory is right it's because Da Vinci painted it and intended it to match up and was part of his legacy..

That's the only explanation I can think of! I would appreciate any other ideas or anyone who knows who I should contact to verify my findings and help. I want to know what I might be missing or what else what i've found could be! Both paintings are from the same time and the painting that matches up over the mona lisa has an unknown painter. Obviously for it to match up in the way it does means it was intentional. But if not by Da Vinci, then who or why?

wow, i read your article in your site, and i found it really interesting. well in my point of view, each artist has their own style in painting or carving their masterpiece, in Da Vinci's case, the way he drew the portraits is looking in the in same way, i believe that that's his "comfort" zone in painting... that maybe the explanation why his painting looks the almost look the same.

and regarding the mirror image and photograpghy, i read something in the past that the cloth that have been said that used to wrap Jesus Christ that is in a museum is made by Da Vinci himself, the article said that its a product of his experiment in photography, though the medium he used is a white piece of cloth, not a piece of paper.

in that case, maybe photography already exist in that time? although i found no proof in that, i think that it also have something to do with this mirror imaging which "maybe" a product of pothography.

thanks for reading this. sorry for some "bad" english...

That's quiet a web sit. You done really well. I have a question for you however, the inverted negatives, how did you get them or do that, wouldn't it be impossible without photographing the original canvas in full. On both pics.

I thought that DaVinci did paint through mirrors. Anyways looks like a good thesis and good luck. I know as an artist myself, I will repaint an image over another, and even use the very image I started with but different style of hair, dress etc.

However, will be interesting to know just what you find out.

Please see my previous answer.

Also lots of artists copied Leonardo's work as he was the master. They used his positioning, subjects and techniques so similarity between works is very common. He was famous in his own lifetime so similar works within his era are not a surprise.
