not one of the school kids walk home but they're all bused home?? I don't get it, is that so the buses just have a better chance of pulling out in front of you so you get ticked off because you have to follow it while it stops at every corner and makes you late for where you're going??

I have to pass by 2 schools on my way home from work, both are located along a highway but are set back at least 200 yards from the edge of the highway.

I do have 2 kids in school.

The schools I drive by are at least 2 miles away from the nearest house or town, so I know none of the kids are walking home or crossing the highway.

Kids are always running and playing, at school, around school, on the way to school. If one kid has a squirt gun and is chasing his friend, that friend may run out in the street to avoid being squirted. The kids are not paying attention to cars driving by. Don't you remember when you were a kid? We goofed around all the time.
The slower the car goes, the more time the driver has to react and stop a vehicle. Maybe a kid did get hurt in your area and the parents asked the city to lower the speed limit to increase safety. They have lowered speed limits around my house too lately, I don't know if it is because of increased traffic, safety, or they like getting more revenue when they write tickets. No matter what, don't speed through a school zone. You would be so sorry if you killed someones kid. I heard about one family that sued someone who ran over their kid. He had to pay only $1000 but it had to be $1 per week for 1000 weeks. Imagine how bad you would feel writing a $1 check for 19 years.

I accept as true with Timbo, show the drivers and childrens. in spite of if i'm continuously careful passing colleges and playgrounds etc as even properly experienced childrens do not continuously have the concentration or spatial information of adults and are extra probably to make an incorrect or impulsive selection while crossing the line. additionally continuously questioned why is it if 'secure practices cameras' are approximately secure practices are there so very few outdoors colleges yet plenty on the open street and motorways ? became the two amused and horrified final year while the community police set up a cellular digicam outdoors our community frequently happening and caught the bus donning childrens to the secondary college alongside with mum and dad (alongside with quite some of the 'extra perfect than you 'reason i've got have been given money' brigade) taking childrens to that frequently happening college !

No matter how students arrive/leave schools - there's always speed limit signs near a school. It is for everyone's safety. Sometimes children can throw or kick a ball too far and have to end up running out into a street to retrieve it- you just never know what could happen to prompt a student to be in a street during school time. I've never seen a school without a speed limit sign. If the speed limit signs are a nuisance then perhaps an alternative way to get to places should be used.

The speed limit is so you dont hit a kid or something that IS walking home. And you have to stop behind buses cause kids sometimes have to get off and cross the street and they dont want the kids to get hit. Of course its annoying having to stop but it is to keep kids safe. That is what is up with the speed limit.

The speed limit is there for the safety of the kids, not whether they go home on the bus or walk. It's a playground, at any time children could go across the street to chase a run away ball or just to hang with their friends.

It's not just walking accidents. There are lots of driving accidents with so many parents all doing drop off and pick up. If you saw the crosses at the intersection near some of the schools, you wouldn't be asking.

kids do walk home. you may not see them all the time, but they're there, and its a lot smarter to go 15 miles than hit one and end up with a big fine or in jail.
