I pledge allegiance
To the flag
Of the United stated of America
And to the republic
For which it stands
One nation,indivisible
With liberty and justice for all

It's nice at least once in life to hear it in it's original form without the daily christian indoctrination addition, wouldn't you agree?

Absolutely. In fact the family of the person that originally wrote it has been, for years, trying to get it restored to its original form.

The addition of the words "under god" took place in 1954 during the Armey-Mccarthey hearings to expose communism. The idea was that all those that didn't believe in god were communists and that, since America was a Christian country we should all be priaising god every day. So much for the first amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an estaablishment of religion....." yeah right....

You are correct.

Whether or not someone believes it should be left as it is currently or taken back to the original form it did not mention god originally. That is so well documented, along with the reason it was added and the time, it isn't something to be disputed. The author himself was a member of the clergy and didn't put god in there. Not like it just appeared on a stone tablet or something.

I'm not sure I even like that. Flags and emblems make me nervous. The word "fascism" comes from "fasces", an imperial emblem that was carried at the beginnings of imperial parades in ancient Rome. It suggests unquestioning devotion to a symbol rather than any principles it purports to represent.

I'd much rather pledge allegiance to the people or the Constitution than the flag.

I certainly would, and hope that eventually the courts will get around to enforcing a separation between church and state. The Supreme Court had a chance to deal with this, but bugged out on a technicality. (I suppose that I can't blame them too much -- it is definitely a political hot potato.)

Yes. I think it's better in it's original form.

Not really. But then I don't think that's original and I'm Christian
