If we consider the all factors of one’s entire life including the life after 50 or 60 then definitely it is best to be married, at least one of the two will have the chance to leave the world peacefully in the lap of the other apart from the benefits of sharing those days together where all turn their faces away.

Life does not end just in love, sex, professional and social success it also has many other faces including unwanted situations, difficulties, shocks, diseases, accidents, natural calamity, whereupon we have limited control and if in these types of adverse circumstance if we have someone to love and talk then there is nothing more beautiful than that.

Someone may have bitter experience from marriage but it does not mean that all are same. They should think if their marriage failed there was at least one person must have been good. This means if you believe you are good then it is also fact that some other people will also be good to stay with. So instead of deciding to live alone they should come out of those nasty memories and start to search for some good life partner for him or her..

I'm in the middle of both worlds right now, strangely enough. I am techincally single (not married), but am in a serious relationship w/someone whom I live with and am starting to plan a wedding with (we're about to get engaged--so we've started the planning process pre-ring. Yes, we do things bass-ackward! :) )

Anyway, I have to say that it depends on your frame of mind and where you are in life. I am nearing 30, settled into a career, living in an area I love, and feel like there's nothing better in the world than sharing all of my successes, happinesses, bad days, good days, bad ideas, fun moments--everything--with my boyfriend. But, I can remember many years when I lived in New York City or was in Boston for college when I enjoyed being single, going on lots of dates, dressing up and going out w/friends. I wasn't ready to be tied down in a marriage or anything like it. But, now I am ready, and there's nothing better in the world.

So, I'd say that for me being married (or in a commited relationship) is best. But, if you're young and having fun, then being single is just fine!

It depends on the circumstances. I was married to someone who was not the right man for me. When we divorced I enjoyed being single. Now I am with a wonderful man who is the best husband I could ask for. Now I think being married is best.

Whichever you are happiest with. If you are in a bad marriage though being single would be alot better. If you are single and happy it is better then being married. Now there are health benefits to being married, espically for guys, but that isn't the question at hand.

I have to agree with Gabby - it totally depends who you are married to. My first marriage was such hell that being single again seemed like a huge blessing. I am now married to a great guy and wouldn't want to ever go back to being single. In my opinion, if you choose your spouse wisely, being married is far better that being single.

It depends... Both "states" have pros and cons. When I was single, I liked being single, and when I'm married I love being married. Depends on what one's ultimately looking for, I guess.

in depends on the person and what they are trying to achieve . . . if they are ready to settle down and have found that one special person that they love and want to be with, then I say being married is wonderful . . . but if the person is still about playing games and wants to be with multiple people, then they need to remain single . . .
