I heard from someone that eating wet doggie food helps the doggie's coat become more shiny and rich in color. Is that true? Does dry doggie food do that too?

Depends on the brand of dog food. Most of the store brands are made of crap...so they won't necessarily help your dog's coat. Some dogs do have digestive problems and can only handle the soft food (plus some dogs have teeth problems that would require a softer food). If you are going to go with a wet food, do it gradually because it can wreak havoc on his stomach (ie loose poopies).

Wet food is fine to feed. It actually has less calories then dry does so is good for weight maintainance. It is a good addition to a dry food diet. If you are going to feed a wet food make sure it is a good quality one.
Contrary to popular belief dry food does nothing for the teeth.Dogs don't chew their food like people do so the food isn't in the mouth long enough to be of value.Likewise canned food isn't in the mouth long enough to cause issue.
Wet food won't make the coat shiney though. It doesn't contain the fat/oils necassary.

Dry dog food is far better for dogs than the wet stuff.
It has more nutrients in it than the wet. Many brands have special things in them for shiny coat and good skin.
Feed the highest quality dog food you can afford to buy and your dog will be fine.
Look for something that does not have corn or wheat in it. No by products is also something to look for.

wetting dry kibble is just to make it easier to swallow. the "coat " will get shiny if its a high quality food. no matter if its wet or dry... nutro's lamb and rice food says there is linatone in the food that CAUSES shiny coat . canned food alone is not good b/c poop needs to be firm so it can empty anal sacs naturally without a vet or groomers help. also kibble is better on teeth health.

Dry doggie food is just as good for the dog as the canned stuff. The only differance is that one has water added to it and the other doesn't. If you give your pet plenty of water, it should do just fine on dry food.

there is no benefit because the vets in my area call wet dog food "junk food" the best way to go is stick with dry food. unless you have a very malnurished dog that needs to gain weight!

DO NOT FEED your dog "wet" food. the only thing that is good for is to give them diarrhea. if you want your dogs coat to be "shiny" feed him/her solid gold dry food. you can find it at any petco or pet stores.

NOOOOO! don't do that! it's bad for their teeth, horribly bad. Try something from nutro. all of their foods are gauranteed to make your dog eat less ( there is absolutely no fillers) poop less (because they eat less) and to improve coat quality. This is a real gaurantee. check them out
