Ok, I will admit to the fact that I do get set off pretty easily. Small things can make me mad and I either ignore whatever made me mad or I go off. I have thoughts about sucide sometimes when I am angry but dont go through with them. My bfs sister thinks that I should get tested for bipolar but i dont think i should because no one in my family has ever been diagnosed with it. My grandma whom I live with doesnt think I am. A few others who are friends with me think I am as well. I dont know what to think. I am already taking pain pills for my back and birth control pills which I hate SOO much I could throw them away. So what do you all think...should I get tested? People say things could get worse but I dont think i am bipolar.

Bipolar, you would have days of feeling great with plenty of energy to spare, you may not sleep. Then you would have days of depression and no energy, it is an effort to walk. then back up, then down....

You shoud get tested because I think your Birth control pills are throwing off your hormone levels. Pain pills could also cause this. Get to the doctor.

Well let me first say birth control pills and pain pills can make you fly off the handle a little bit easier than normal, i know that from experience. If you are concerned about that (especially the thoughts you have when your mad) it doesn't hurt just to go talk to someone. I went through this also when i was a bit younger, so I went to go talk to someone. It doesn't hurt, sometimes it can help, it all depends on the person.

There are many types of "bipolar" ... including being "manic" (happy all the time), "depressive" ("down" all the time) and then the unfortunate ones who have swings of moods between the two. The first two can usually be handled by medication (and there are many new ones), but the third type is more of a problem. There are many reasons why a person should be seen to determine if they are actually bipolar. The only testing I'm aware of is to see a psychiatrist and let him/her listen to your background and your answers to specific questions about your behavior. If that person tells you you are bipolar (and you should also be told which of the three types you are). If you aren't bipolar, you'll find that out, too. It is worth it to know the actual facts...otherwise you'll wear yourself out trying to figure it out yourself. And, if you aren't bipolar, it would be important to know why your temper gets the best of you. That can be worked out, too, and you'll feel better if you don't have all those problems a hot temper brings.

well it could be, but it also could be pain medication your own, alot of pain med will make you fly off the handle. Steroids also do this. D o y ou have alot of mood swings, like spending alot of money at times or staying up all night cleaning or busy with something else at a manic pace. Those are some symtoms of BI-polar or Manic depression. I would ask my doctor about the pain med. and also ask if he thinks you could be bi-polar. He would help you more than we can do. You could also be depressed and it causes mood swings. Talk to your dr. good luck!

You could just be depressed....if you notice an up and down feeling with your personality or daily routines, then there is a chance you could be bi-polar. Every day life stress is one thing, but to ever contemplate suicide is another. Reguardless if it is depression or bi-polar disorder, you should probably talk to a professional and seek help with what ever it is that bothers you.
