Well, when a man puts out his hand to shake my hand I am honest and say "sorry but I do not shake hands with men". Some men act a bit strange about this, but if you are choosing to follow your religion then that is better then what some man thinks. Also I try and avoid some situations, for example, when I was going to have an interview for a higher position within the company I knew I would be interviewed by a male and a female. I went to the female prior to the interview and explained the situation. When I entered the interviewing room I was not uncomfortable because the man was not expecting me to shake hands with him. By the way I got the job and I followed my beliefs. Good luck! I know at first it may seem a bit strange but it will get better, just be strong!

This is mainly a prayer issue...

For both men and women, when they shake hands, both have to perform wudu'u again before prayer, which is not a big deal unless the problem is that water is not easily available for wudu'u. I've seen Muslim women wearing gloves and shaking hands with men. This is becoming more common these days.

In societies like the US, where shaking hands is common between men and women especially in business situations, it is unavoidable and sometimes rude if you don't shake hands. In this case, the key is not to consciously make it a sexual experience.

I am not Muslim but couldn't you just explain that you can't for religious reasons? I read once in a book that some ladies would cover their hands with a silk scarf or something to do this so as not to make actual contact. Not sure if it is correct or anything.Hope you find what helps.

Sorry I am not Muslim or a Girl, But I do think not touching is a very good idea. touching only leads to further things. IF we all had that value, there would be a Lot less teens having kids, less people dieing of aids.

sorry for interrupting, I am not a woman and not Muslim but I felt I might add a comment that is the imam of main Mosque in Holland did not or some how refused to shake hand with the queen when she visited them and that seems to apply to men to in Islam.

The original premise is false. Women and men are certainly allowed to shake hands in Islam.

Well it sounds like the stupidest f**king thing in the world to me,I'm so glad I was never stupid enough to let myself be dragged into one of these brainwashing cults. Religion ought to be banned,it is either stupid or destructive.

it's allowed to shake hands with men .. even Omar ibn Al Khatab was reported to shake hands with an old woman.

The hadith some scholars use to prove it's not allowed is misinterpreted by them ,
