Is it common to lose weight after having your wisdom teeth removed?

I have just had my wisdom teeth removed and can only eat soup, and consume clear juices, has anyone lost weight because of this soft diet?

yes..i had all four removed @ the same time and i lost approx 25lbs...

After the operation

1. A little oozing of blood is normal and should be expected. This can be stopped by biting on a piece of gauze placed on top of the wound, for about 20 - 30 minutes.
2. Do not wash the mouth too vigorously or use your tongue to disturb the wound as these would dislodge the blood clot and cause further bleeding.
3. Call your dentist if you think the wound is bleeding badly.
4. You may place an ice-cold towel or ice-pack over your cheek to help reduce the swelling. Do not put warm compresses on the cheek as this will worsen the swelling.
5. Take all the medicines given to you at the proper time. If antibiotics have been given to you, complete the whole course.
6. Keep to a soft diet.
7. Do not exercise vigorously or do heavy work.
8. Do not smoke or drink alcohol.
9. After the first day of the operation, rinse your mouth gently after every meal to remove any trapped food at the wound. Continue to brush your teeth in the other parts of the mouth.

Looks like you are doing the right thing...A lot of the time the antibiotics they give you cause an upset tummy...Just stay the course, and you will get a better appetite soon...You will be fine...

Yes it is common, I mean, look at what you can only eat. Not many calories in clear juices or soup.

not really, i was only on soup 3 days.

Nah, because that only lasts for about a week or two...besides it doesn't include fiber.....and that removes waste from the body.

My lord. who removed your wisdom teeth? I had my wisdom teeth removed early in the morning and was munching on a regular supper that nite. I had no pain and never used a pain pill.
