Jesus said rich men don’t go to Heaven easily and even implied that it wasn’t possible. Why are so many people with money and property Christian if they are probably going to Hell?

Hey, if you're going to give me a thumbs-down, at least have the balls to answer.

I have asked the same question.

It is funny how christians think that a rich man can go to heaven, even though Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle, which is impossible. It shows how moronic these followers are when they take what was written and change the meaning.

If the Bible was strictly adhered to by Christians they would be about the same as the Muslims in the Middle East

Mark, chapter 10 verse 25

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy, chapter 6 verse 10

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Too many people LOVE their riches, and thus..

Luke, chapter 16 verse 13

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

he didn't say it wasn't possible he said it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to be saved. I am told that the eye of the needle was a passageway at the temple, that had high and low walls that a man would have to crawl under and over, this done so that no animals could enter the temple, not specifically a camel passing through the eye of a sewing needle, still impossible for man but, as Christ stated, for God nothing is impossible. Rich men tend to have their hands so tight arround their money that they are unable to let go of all of it, become poor (like Christ did) and follow him. for someone who is poor this is a much easier thing to drop everything and follow Chirst. There is much less to loose, this is why it is near impossible a rich man to go to heaven.

If Jesus meant riches then all poor people are going to Heaven. Jesus was talking about a state of mind. What you set your mind on ...where your heart lies.... what you put your trust in etc. There are poor people with money and rich people without. When Jesus talked about 'eye of a needle' it is not the sewing needle that we use today. When Jesus told a story, it was a true one and a parable it was pertaining to their life style at that time.

it goes along with the verse that says the love of money is the root of all evil.

when a person becomes rich it is harder for them to realise how much they need God.

In the same way that a person who has been starving will appreciate a meal more than someone who eats all day.

The bible does not say that they WONT go to heaven but that it is harder for them to.

The eye of a needle is not the eye of a sewing needle.

it was a hole in a wall back in the day that in order for a camel to fit through it would have to get on its knees and crawl.
How ironic.

The bible does not condemn being wealthy. infact it says that money is a defense. Eccl. 7:12

That is not what God is saying. People are not to think more of their money than they do God. If they had to choose between their earthly riches and God and they choose their money over God, Yes.... those people will never see the kingdom of God.

People who put money first over God are serving another god and not the Almighty God.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Defination of mammon-Of Chaldee origin (confidence, that is, figuratively wealth, personified); mammonas, that is, avarice (deified): - mammon.

There are many wealthy people who go out and share their wealth with the poor, and do not store it up all for themselves. In the end... none of us are leaving with what we came into this world with. We leave our bodies behind. It is what you do with your life, and if you placed God first always and spouce, children, and money after God that God decides if you are that paverbial camel going through that eye of the needle.

All who accept Jesus as their savior go to heaven. Even the wealthy ones who place God above everything in their life, especially their money.

Raised Catholic, I was not quite prepared for the Protestants I met in West Texas who told me with all earnestness two amazing things about God:
1)He rewards good behavior with material possessions on earth (and so you know the poor are bad.)
2)No matter what you do after you are saved, you will go to heaven. "You may forget Jesus, but he will never forget you," is how I heard one woman explain it to her grandson (my friend) when he couldn't even believe that's what his own religion was teaching and I said - ASK someone around here....

They had eviscerated a great faith, an instrument of social justice and social terror and map-shaping conquests, that had evolved from several great (pagan) mediterranean faiths.

These previous belief systems demanded sacrifice, strict behavior, self-examination - even poverty in some sects - in order to gain favor from the gods while alive and, in some, to try to earn a place at the gods' sides after death - or at least avoid some deserved torment.

These Protestants took a rigorous system for human development and social organization and turned into 'get out of morality-jail free on earth' and 'get into heaven free' cards that are handed out to those who merely chanted 'i accept jesus as my savior.' It's basically meaningless - and it may be why they are becoming so hysterical in their judgements of others and their fear of science.

christians dont like it when u ask a normal question about their religion which they cant answer. in their eyes its an attack, but in our eyes its a normal question.

jesus didnt say u goto hell or heaven just like that. his views have been twisted overr the many years by priests. im not christian btw. jesus had common sense to know that happiness is in the mind, heaven is a state of mind and so is hell. therefore, money cant buy happiness so it cant buy heaven.

All of jesus's teachings seem to have been misinterpreted!

the way that works is most rich men are all about power, but the preachers and stuff on t.v i will say i don't think all of them are sincere however when u give God makes sure u get, the more u give the more u get, but u arent supposed to give for those reasons.God don't want u to do without He will provide for u. He wants u to prosper but doing so without power, its ok if its to glorify God but no yourself

In isreal there is a great wall that has a narrow doorway that is named "the eye of the needle." I'm not sure exactly where it is, but reputedly the only way to get a camel through it is to strip it of all its burdens and make it go through on its knees--which makes this the most relevant metaphor in the bible............
