I have a year and a half old male collie that barks excessively at night. It is disturbing the neighbors and I want to be a good neighbor to them. How can I make him stop barking without hurting him. **SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLZ**

He's a LARGE collie, not a small house dog. He has a large, comfortable dog house and is on a long lead, so that he has plenty of room to run. If I hated him, I wouldn't have him!!!!!!

We don't have the luxury of a large fenced in yard....would you rather me let him run into the street where he can get splattered all over the road????

Is there a possible reason he's barking, like other animals running around. Could you possibly take him in at night even if it's in a basement or on a porch. I don't know if they make a muzzle that would keep him from barking or not. I know they have collars that will shock them to keep them from barking no stop, but I've never had to use them and honestly it would scare me to use one. I had a kennel and the best way to keep the barkers quiet was to pen them inside at night.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/am6Cw

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

The small pain you give to your dog with a bark collar is small compared to the racked your neighbors have to live with. Plus if they really get pissed they could start turning you in to the the police, you would be fined and at some point have to give up the dog.

Here is an in home training program that uses a totally non-violent non-electronic method of resolution.

First, you should have known this BEFORE you got a collie. They are NOTORIOUS barkers.

Get an anti-bark colar from Petsmart. They DO work.

We used a bark control device strapped to our Belgian's neck. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't. We finally had to take her to the vet and have her debarked. That worked.

I am seriously telling you...BRING THE DOG INSIDE!!! Why are you punishing him? Do you hate him? Do you want him to be lonely and sad? Treat him like a pet, not a piece of outdoor furniture! Oh my God...you tie him up too? You should NOT have a dog! Please give the poor dog to someone who will love him, not tie him up and leave him alone outside day in and day out. Sorry if I piss you off, but I am an advocate for animals because they cannot speak and are defenseless and you know, when you really think about it, your dog does not have a good life. Do the right thing.
