Why do you only allow 300 characters to a post especially for a girl that's getting married?

Here's the deal, I wouldn't ask a question in that manner, the answer is there. It's been reported because Customer Serv. called me to it. So, the question was about the 300 characters and not the answer. Someone sort a changed it. I don't like that.

Congratulations! Actually, it's 1000 characters for the question and then you can add additional details after you ask the question if you need to clarify. Each time you add additional details, you get another 1000 characters.

It's comments (on resolved questions) where you only get 300 characters. You can always leave several comments if you run out of room.

I agree. That is annoying. I am new to this, as I just signed up today. I also happened to try out my first answer on a question from a girl that was getting married. I typed out this long helpful response, only to have the stupid computer tell me at the end that I had to shorten my answer. I put almost as much effort into editing my answer as I did into typing it. Thanks YAHOO!

What? You can post as long as you want except when you add to your original post. No one wants to read a diatribe, however, or a novel, so keep it short. You seem confused for sure!

Because no one has time to read through huge, long essays.
