A black dress is fine for an evening wedding, but you might consider lightening it up with jewelry of a different color, like blue coral.

It depends if you are in the wedding party or a guest? In the wedding party, you have to coordinate with what the bride wants. A guest can wear anything she wants, and black is very formal. So in conclusion, no, there is no real problem, especially if it's an evening wedding.

I've heard that black is acceptable if it is an evening wedding. Why not ask the bride and groom if they would be offended by a black dress?

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a black wedding dress on her wedding day also. So if you have a plan, then make it happen.

Wish you luck.

If it is an evening wedding, then wearing black should be fine. However, I would rethink it if it is in the day time.

for an evening wedding, sure it's okay...As long as your not wearing white (like the brides wedding gown), your fine.

It will be fine, especially if it is a night wedding.

I honestly think it would be fine besides the bride is the main person of that day so why not wear what you want to even if you look better than the bride:)
