Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III. Get 1 GB, whichever one you choose.

Lexar is the other top brand and you can get 80x or 133x, which match the Sandisk cards I mentioned for speed.

If you aren't worried about taking a lot of shots in a short period of time, just about any will work. A 4GB will hold so many shots you would be able to take several hundred photos.

I would advise buying the largest you can afford and take the highest quality photo (settings are on your camera menu).

Second - don't beleive that all cards are made by the same company and therefore all are the same. The 133x or 150x, etc., is not as important as the read/write speed. The write speed is how long it takes to transfer data from your camera to the card. The read would be the reverse. The Extreme III card has approximately 20 MBS write speed. Their newest, which hasn't been release on SD cards yet, is their Extreme IV, which has 40 MBS write speed and is now twice the speed of any other card on the market. But, you can only get them on Compact Flash (CF) at this time, which is a bummer because my new Nikon uses only SD.

Get a SD card that's faster than the manufacturer's recommended speed. I've used both name brands (Sandisk, Lexar) and lesser known brands (PNY, PQI, Transcend, etc.) and have never had a SD card fail on me (knock on wood).

I don't recommend eBay for memory cards as there are now too many counterfeit products. I usually get my memory cards, and other PC related stuff at newegg.com. Here's their current listing for 1GB SD the current cost ranges between $20 to $40.

it doesnt really matter because sd different from the cf cards, go to sams club in your area and get a lexar or toshiba sd 1 gig card for $30 it will last with you for ever, its a myth but all sd cards are the same. they all perform equally good, on ebay you can get a 1gig for about $25 plus $10 shipping so sams ins your best choice. REMEMBER NEVER TO KEEP THE SD OR ANY OTHER CARDS IN YOUR POCKET WITH YOUR CELLPHONE, YUP IT WILL DELETE THE IMAGES, HAS TO WITH MAGNETIC WAVES, NEVER TOUCH YOUR SD CARD IF YOUR FINGERS ARE MOIST TOO, STATIC SPARKS WILL DELELTE YOUR PICS.
ALL THE CARDS BASICALLY COME FROM THE SAME FACTORY IN SOME SUBURB OF TAIWAN, COMPANIES BUY BULK AND PUT THEIR LABELS ON THEM, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME, unless you are shooting sports photos with a 400mm zoom lens and using a Nikon d50 on burst mode speed doesnt matter at all, aLL SD CARDS PERFORM THE SAME WAY.

Even though the Sandisk Ultra II is more than adequate, I would probably recommend you buy the 1GB Sandisk Extreme III for very fast performance.
These cards have a lifetime warranty.

Panasonic has the rep for the best speed. Not surprising since they invented the technology.
