'conversion' should not be necessary. Put it in the drive and double click the icon or whatever. A CD is a CD is a CD. Mine reads mac and pc from as far back as 95 or 96.

U got a CD with data , or a Cd drive? windows 95 and xp are the same format. Should be.

Huh?
Windows XP should read a CDRom written in Windows 95 without a problem.
It has nothing to do with the operating system.
It's all about the file format used to write the disc.
In windows, it's always been ISO9660.

Are u sure its a cd ROM? It should work no problem if it is. If it is an application cd,u may need to use the programme compatibility wizard.
start>all programs>accessories>program compatibility wizard.
It will guide u through the process.

I had the same problem, some CDs my sister burned for me using XP would not run on my winME OS but they run fine on my new Win XP OS, I never found out why ?
