He's a kitten, and that's what kittens do! Try getting him some toys to play with and play with him yourself. Kitten's need attention, they are not a pet like fish that all you have to do is look at them and put food in the tank.
Get him some fun toys, ones that move maybe. Also maybe get him some of the carpet covered cat condos that he can climb on.
Only squart him with water only when he is doing something bad, and you must do it right then, don't wait five minutes because the cat won't understand what they have done wrong. If he is doing something good let him know that too. Pet him, give him a small treat. This will come in handy in the future when you will need to do things to the cat that they won't like.
My cats aren't very fond of getting their toenails cut, but I've learned that if I give them a treat afterwards they will just sit there and let me cut them now. They will then go to the fridge and wait for their cheese (which is their treat).
Just remember that kittens need attention, they are just like little kids. They will calm down as they get older, but you have to play with them and give them things to do so that they stay out of trouble.

He's not Crazy he's being a cat he needs toys at this age to help keep his boundless energy in check. I'd try boxes and chasing toys to keep him on the ground as much as possible.
When he's playing try to watch him, if he shows signs of getting distracted then he's either about to fall asleep Or get into mischief.Typical child really. Distract him with a toy (a fishing line type works well as they usually cant resist them, Startling the cat (Most Cats HATE water being Srayed) also works, I tend to use sound I bang a cardboard tube. As long as its not physical punishment we all can find ways to do it. I wouldn't use the startle method in some situations and vice versa and I think that is where your problem lies. WRONG TOOL you aren't calming him if anything you are unwittingly encouraging him, You could even end up with a cat who'll see the spray as a game. For this behaviour I'd use Distraction. You'll soon find what works best for you and the cat I'm sure.
Welcome to the Wacky World of Cats and all it entails! ENJOY!

He is a kitten he needs to play ! Do you play with him ? Does he have toys and places he is allowed to climb ? If you do not have any toys for him a ball of paper thrown for him will amuse him for a while. There are loads of cheap (make sure they are safe ie nothing that can be swallowed) toys around. I read a great tip in a book by Vicky Halls. Keep the toys in a bag with catnip (a herb a load of cats love) then keep swapping them around , so they do not get bored with the same toy. Spraying him with water will not calm him down, it will upset him and probably make him worse and is not very kind.

He's young yet. He's just having fun. Some kittens or soooo bad. I didn't think I was gonna make through kittenhood with one of mine. He ran the house, jumped and clawed on the curtains. Would do hit and runs up the back of my legs. At about 6 months old he calmed down. Maybe a playmate for him is in order.

Young kittens are inquisitive, active and lively. If left to their own devices they can get into trouble. First, find a safe place to leave your kitten when he is not supervised. This could be a bedroom where you also have food, water, resting places and a litter box. When you are home make sure to engage him in active, aerobic play using toys, never your hands or feet. Try to offer him different toys daily and ways to explore without getting into trouble. This could be a cat climbing tower where you hide treats, empty cardboard boxes or bags. If you provide enough enrichment and entertainment, he should leave your belongings alone.

think about it. a little human boy. jumping on the furnature, screaming, running around crazily, playing stupid crazy games, knocking over bookcase, and being crazy. hopefully the boy would mature and calm down as he got older. same with a kitten. they r very crazy at kitten age, but will calm down when they grow somewhat older. hope i helped!

Like everyone is saying, he will calm down.
Your kitten has loads of energy, just like hyperactive children, so you have to keep him entertained or he will begin making his own entertainment - at the expense of your curtains and furniture! An idea you could try is tying a small piece of something like a toilet roll or something smaller on the end of some string and hanging it from something, like a door handle or over the edge of a table. You have to introduce it to him as something he can chase and 'kill' (their instincts are wild remember). If you drag it in front of him for him to chase he'll get the idea quick enough! Then when he sees it dangling in front of him, he'll attack. Should keep him entertained for hours. It'll probably keep you pretty entertained too.
He's not an ABYSSINIAN is he? If so, good luck! My Mum had one, and she was mental for years. I think the only thing that slowed her down was age.

Dont worry too much, i have two young cats and had them from kittens - they were absolutley mental, but like the others are saying, he will deffinatley calm down!!
the only one thing i can suggest which was told to me, is to make/let him go out alot more....kittens are like babies - they have to be occupied!! they will always come back as they follow their own scent,
hope this helps :-)

Hi Dark
your kitten is just being the usual naughty kitten, she will grow out of it. She must be happy to see you when you come home. My kitten was not just as mad but he did to some strange things LOL
