To Wolfman 72
As a retired U.S. Navy man with a daughter currently on active duty I, in no way believe that supporting our troops means supporting the Bush Republicans, they are two separate entities. I agree with Theodore Roosevelt when said in 1912 that to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, it is morally treasonable to the American public. It is not merely the right but the duty of any citizen who believes public policy is wrong to speak out and oppose it. Without this kind of dissent the civil rights movements could not have occurred. There was a philosophy popular in the 60s, "My country right or wrong, if it's right to keep it right, if it's wrong to make it right."

An overwhelming majority of the people serving in the military support the President. I'm a vet and I do, so does my whole family.

They either like him or hate him...Same as civilians, only difference is people in the military can't bad mouth and talk smack about the president. But I honestly think, if for any reason anyone in the military is not liking the president, it most likely has to do with the war causing long deployments.

I don't know what the "approval poll" says but something like 80% of military members are self proclaimed republicans.

Many military families, believe it or not, are all for Bush. They support him in every decision. I don't know why, if everything he is up to is for no good, but they do. Sad huh...oh well, this is America, everyone has the right to their own opinion and to voice it.

They certainly have more believability in GWB than they had with his predecessor. Military personnel are encouraged to stay non political, therefore their attitude regarding GWB is really very positive.

As others have mentioned, there are a wide range of opinions, just as in civilian life, but I have heard from my military relatives that there is a lot of grumbling (and stories) over there that never make it back over here.

I would rather serve under a Commander in Chief that is willing to fight back when we get attacked than one who just hides under his desk sucking his thumb. I support our president and to those of you who say you support the troops but don't support our president, you are lying about one of them. If you don't support the president then you dont support the troops under his command (and that would be all of us). This is just a fact of life.
