Arts and crafts stores make special styrofoam cutters but they are expensive and not really worth the price unless you are cutting styrofoam on a daily basis.

I would recommend just using fish line if you are trying to cut all the way through. For just a slice... a serrated bread knife should do the job! Good luck!

I used to have a job and it required me to cut syrofoam we used a metal thin line as thin as fishing lineand if youmake it stationary like building a wood half box and attach line with 2 eye lits on either side so line is straight up and down and you can completely manipulate the foam and cut it without breaking and cut any shape you want ...good luck I hope this helped

An electric knife is definitely the way to go! The next time you see one for sale at a garage sale for a few bucks, buy it, it'll come in handy for lots of crafts. They slice through foam and strofoam like butter.

i've cut styrofoam using a hot knife. i heat it in a flame and cut the styrofoam. but if the knife is too hot, it will melt the styrofoam more than you want, and it gets cold pretty fast, so you have to keep heating it again. also, the melt styrofoam stays glued to the knife, so you have to do it with one you don't care about, becuaue you won't be using it for anything else after that.

My husband cut some shapes into foam and put it in his camera case to hold his lenses. He put it in the freezer and froze it solid, then was able to slice right thru it with a sharp knife, with no problem.

I would imagine just do it for him with a sharp knife. You could probably saw through it. I'm sure no one expects it to be perfect as styrofoam has that weird texture.
