Hi, I bought a Passat with 101k miles on and it now has 129k and I have never had any problems with it other than it needing a new battery. Mine is a petrol 1.8 and it is excellent. Most people prefer diesels but there is nothing wrong with a petrol model.
If it is full VW service history it would be better, but I think these engines can go over 200k before they need anything major.
I would buy it as vw's are quality, mine is a 2000 registered. They have 10 year anti corrosion warranty too.

if the price is 4-5 grand, yes but you will get next to nothing back when you sell. however, being german and vw, the high milleage is no deterant as this car is built exceptionally and therefore can last long, without faults, repairs that some lesser brands will. In other brands, likely you will pay for brakes, clutch, engine etc.....
perfect full history is also a good thing- meaning this car had been kept in good nick and good condition. I have every incling , this car can do another 100,000 miles, if not more.

this represents very good value in terms of a car for 3,4 yrs with little work to be done.

The passat is a really good workhorse type car. The high mileage shouldnt be as much of a prob here as it might be on other cars or even other VW models. If the price is ok, then it will be a decent buy most likely.

As long as it was reasonably priced. Nothing wrong with them as cars, very average, nothing better nothing worse. 105k is nothing today, a high mileage car normally has done a lot of motorway miles which means the actual wear may be no more than a 40,000mile car. Only problem is you have to sell it on to the monkies after you finished with it and a lot of people are still so stupid they believe this rubbish about mileage. Thats the only drawback with that. But sounds a perfectly reasonable car otherwise.

I wonder what would happen if all the people that are saying around 1500$ would do when they looked at the blue-book value. Volkswagens are made to last a long time as long as you take care of them. I would in a heartbeat as long as all the service records were provided and stuff like that. Have them run a diagnostic check on it, and if everythings good then go for it.

If the price is right. With that many miles on the clock is will be an ex company car so it will have been maintained regardless of cost. VWs are reasonable reliable so as long as you look afer it it you should get a good few years of motoring out of it.

If it looked good and the price was right. 105,000 miles really isnt that many miles if it has been well taken care of but I would look up the price at the nada.com site or kellys blue book

get a good mechanic to look over ever aspect of the car, before parting with money,as it is always a gamble buying a vehicle you have not owned since new,cos you dont know how it has been driven, imagine some company rep for instance, racing around in a company car that is not his maintain!so get any car properly checked out before you buy!volkswagen is usually one of the better car manufacturers, but every vehicle has parts that wear, some we can see, others that are more hidden!dont take a gamble!

I'd snap it up. 105k might sound high, but chances are this sort of car will have done more motorway miles, and won't have been worked too hard to keep up with traffic. Anyway, VWs are generally bombproof.

Should make a good value family car or motorway cruiser.
