our goverment sends the rcmp to other countries to help these countries solve or learn to solve crimes.solve or learn to solve crimesHati somalia, iraq, and other africian countries to name a few .I am talking of hundreds not just 5 or 10. Imagine the cost. Why dont these countries send there police here instead. It would save or allow canada to better police our own country instead .

First, when the RCMP deploys to foreign countries it is generally under a UN operation or a partnership with the host nation. They do not deploy as patrol cops, but normally to train the police officers of wherever they are going, or they are there as security for Canadian VIP's, diplomats or consular facilities

And the major reason of it being kept quiet is that it is low-profile.

As for how foots the bill, if it's for a UN operation, the UN will foot a healthy chunk of the bill. In the other situation, there has to be an agreement and a memorandum of understanding on the status of forces to have armed cops on the ground in a foreign country, and those would determine how much the host government would pay, as opposed to the Canadian taxpayer.

And please note that the RCMP are an arm of the federal goverment, just like the military is. However, whereas you need the military to fight a war, train other militaries and reinstate the rule of law, you need cops to do policing duties, law enforcement or the training of new police forces.

I really don't think that's its hundreds but maybe a couple. I think you should be thankful your gov. has them over seas to infiltrate possible terror groups, to track illegal activity that would windup in your country. The N.Y.P.D. has a few stationed in other countries and some undercover and they risk their lives every minute to try to keep All our countries safe. Its not a very thankful job and certainly no picnic.

Actually every nation has to go everywhere to solve mostly their own crimes and sometimes escort or pickup prisoners. Because international criminals do their things all over the world. The criminals is what is costing.
