I just got engaged about two Sundays ago. I need to know how to plan a good, less expensive wedding. My wedding date is February 14th next year. Its not too late is it?

No not at all. But try to secure a place for the reception a.s.a.p.
Next time to go speak to your clergy if your having a church wedding.
Next is to start looking for dress
and to decide if your going to have attendants or not if so how many?
pick there dresses out if you will have them.
and color scheme
and most important relax it's your day and congrats!!!!

Hey Bride to be, first congrats to you!.I am getting married in two weeks and I just had the final walk through with the caterer and wedding decorator today. It pays to be very creative when picking vendors. I love Stephi's book at fireyourweddingplanner.com. She has tons of great suggestions that I use to plan my own wedding. Also try craigslist.org, you may get lucky. I found my florist there and she is great! Some things, though, you should splurge. For me, it is the venue. I made my own invitation, program, and menu. My best advice is, be cool the day of and enjoy it. Have fun!

My boyfriends mother just got married, and she had the cheapest, yet most beautiful wedding!
She rented a little school house for really cheap. And then SHE did the decorating... simply bought candles, some flowers, and Christmas lights and she even used curtain material for the table cloth! She did higher a caterer however- that will be nessesary. But other than that, everything was really cheap, but it was absolutely beautiful. Good luck and congratulations!

no it is not too late. some suggestions are to take care pf the food yourself, make your own floral arrangements, skip the limo, set a limit for how much you can afford to spenf on the dress and don't go over it, ditto with the wedding. Some churches will rent the church hall to members for free or almost free. Congrats and good luck to you.

Depending on the size of your wedding, you can find lots of good information on planning weddings from your local library books and magazines. You can search online for ideas too. If you have time, you can make your own floral arrangements, gift notions, etc. When my daughter married in 1999, we shopped at Walmart and Hobby Lobby for supplies and ideas. If you sew, you could make your own dress. My mom made mine of white velvet. It looked good anf felt divine.
Congratulations on your engagement. I wish you every happiness.

The book "Bridal Bargains" is one of the best resources out there for creative ideas for weddings on a budget and on "unusual" timelines. I bought a copy many years ago for a friend who was getting married and after she was done with it, I hung on to it for future reference. Best of all, they update it fairly often.

No, its not too late. One thing to remember is keep it small. Don't invite everyone you know to your wedding. The more people you invite the more you have to spend on food, drinks etc.

Congratulations!
