I left my debit card in my purse in our apartment. Before I even knew it was gone, my roomate hands it to me and explains that she "borrowed" it to get a Blockbuster Rental pass. In order to get the rental pass, you have to have a credit or debit card on file. Nothing was charged to my account because she paid cash, but if she dosn't pay the monthly fee, they will charge my debit card. Given her history of not paying bills, I don't want my card associated with anything she owes. I tried to get her to remove my card number from her account and she refused. I tried blockbuster, the manager said there was nothing they could do unless she put another card number on file, or I had proof that it was stolen. He said that there was a signature on file, so I know she ran it like a credit card so she wouldn't have to know my pin. What can I do? If I go to my bank and explain will they stop charges from blockbuster to my account?

Call the bank.

Many banks have service centers that are open, even when the banks are not. The toll-free number should be right on your card.

Have the card cancelled, and a new one issued.

Do like other said. Report it lost. (Don't report it stolen they will need a police report.) This way your card will be hot listed and blockbuster will not be able to charge your card and it won't be transferred to the new card. If the bank charges a replacement fee for the card. Have the roommate pay for this.

I hate blockbuster with a passion. I don't even like there terms. They have been sued so much. That you agree to opt out of any class action suit and if you have a disagreement you must use arbitration and can not take them to court. This contact is being challenge in court.

You may have to pay the one charge. The merchant should of not taken that card to begin with.

Inform both the bank and Blockbuster in writing that any charges from Blockbuster to the card are unauthorized.

The Blockbuster manager is wrong. There is something he can do, cancel your roommates Rental Pass. If she signed your name, its your account to cancel. If she signed her name, it doesn't match the card and he should have known it was illegal when she signed up.

Report it stolen, cause it technically was!
File a police report. Your so called friend is using you! She needs to learn pronto not to abuse people. Put her in jail!

Go to the bank cancel that account, start a new one, get a locking safe. Find a hiding spot. Find a new friend.

Go back to Blockbuster or contact via email, they will be committing fraud if they use the card. Don't know how she could use it, cause the names could not match up.

Oh wow! What a friend! I think that you should call your debit card provider immediately and report your card lost/stolen. If you report your card lost of stolen, you will not be responsible of the charges incurred after your card is reported and the bank will send you a new card with a new number.

I hope that this answer was helpful!

Call your bank there are ways in which your back will work with you to get rid of these charges and may be able to help you press charges against her. I would not take this lightly. But definatly call your back they should be able to help you out and be able to tell you the options in which you have and any alternatives. You should also have the card cancelled cause she may have memorized your number and such. Make sure to take care of this asap!

Call the bank and get a new debit card issued. Cancel the old one. Tell your roommate to keep her hands off your stuff.

She borrows your card without your permission AND she refuses to remove your number from her account???

I am trying to figure out which one of you girls is more crazy, but it must be you (for still talking to her and letting her get away with it).

Girl, go to your bank (soon!) and explain it all. Have it all blocked!

And when you're done with that, tell your room mate to start packing her bags before she regrets ever being near you or your stuff!!

Honestly girl, you need that person out of your life.

Cancel your credit card and get another one, also next month raise her part of the rent, like $10 or 20 dollars.
