Because usually it goes through the umbilical cord into a humans belly button. How does it get through to the kitten or puppy? Hmm bit of an odd one!

not unusual at all the kittens and puppies are fed by the parent in exact same way as humans get nourishment but through individual umbilical cords to each sack that contans a puppy or kitten if you have ever seen them being born the parent will detach the cord by eating the sack then chewing through the cord so in effect the animal has a belly button also just not as visible as a humans . al animals cords are attached to the single placenta in the womb of the mother there no seperate placentas for each puppy or kitten thats the only difference only when human twins are presant is a single placenta there but in non idendical twins a human has two placentas .

Through the umbilical cord! When a dog gives birth you clamp the cord and cut it and tie it just like on a human. After a few days it falls off. You can usually see the mark better on bitches than on dogs but both have it of coarse. See if you can find it the next time you play with a doggy.

Same way little umbilical cords! Seen my sisters mom cat eat it up. Guess its nature natural way of dealing with the mess so no enemies come around and eat up the new borns.

May be a cruel answer, buts thats nature!

They have a placenta and umbilical cord too. If you have a dog or cat look at their belly carefully and you will see that they have a rounded lump on it, this is their belly button!

Each puppy or kitten is encased in its' own little placenta and its nutritional needs are met through the umbilical cord.

As we are all mammals we are all born in exactly the same way so if you know how it works for us, then you know how it works for them only difference is length of pregnancy and how many young are born..
so the simple answer is 'the same way as a human'

Through the umbilical cord. They are born, after all, with placentas, just as we are.
